I did an interview for a credit card company on Dec 6th which was almost two weeks ago. The company told me that they would call me and let me know. I emailed them a follow up letter but received no response. I called them and the manager was out for meeting. I called them later again and the customer service representative told me that they would call me back since the company was moving, rearranging the desk, cleaning up.. I did not receive phone call yet. Is it better to call them since they havent told me verbally whether I got the job or not? Or are they using nonverbal communication although they told me that they would call me back twice? One of my friend works there but it took him almost two weeks for them to call him. I am assuming the same thing... but should I call them since they say they will call me back like twice? or do you think they are just ignoring instead of telling me directly? what is the best thing to reach them in a nice way and find out whether I got hired?

You always have to remember their time frames are not the same as yours. You are waiting around staying focused on the fact that they have not gotten a hold of you yet. They are living their regular busy lives, doing what they did every day before you went for the interview. And even though it is a main concern to you, hiring people is not to any employer, and do not forget about all the other concerns that you do not even know are involved in hiring someone for a company. So relax if it is meant to be and the good man upstairs wants that for you, nothing can stop that from happening!

This is the hardest part about interviewing is waiting for a result. Often companies dread this part, too because it's a long and difficult process to hire a new employee.

My guess is that they hired someone other than you and are waiting word on the candidate's acceptance. If the candidate accepts, then they go through a background check. If the candidate rejects or if the company pulls its offer, it will go to its next best choice.

Right now, they feel its best not to tell you one way or the other.

I would advise you to stop following up with the company and wait to see if you hear from them. Pursue other job opportunities in case this one does not pan out. They understand you are interested, and you have now followed up in writing and by telephone. If you continue to keep calling and calling you are pushing too hard. They told you they would call you back, wait and see if they do.

By just showing up at the office or continuing to call them over and over again you could be burning the bridge and scaring off the hiring manager from considering you.

If you were going to be hired, they'd call you. If you keep bugging them, you'll just annoy them and word will get around that you are annoying and then even if they were planning on hiring you, they'll change their mind. Nobody wants to hire a pest!

Typically, if they tell you that they'll reach you within two weeks, then you would contact them once at the two week point and if you still didn't hear from them, then assume you didn't get the job. Most places are too wussy to tell you outright that they aren't hiring you.

put at least 4 or 5 days between the last call on your next move. You next move: Go in and ask to speak to the manager or person in charge of hiring, don't settle for any one else. If not there, find out when they WILL be in and come back 10 minutes earlier than when they are expected. This is you life your talking about, don't allow any one to put you aside with out at least giving you a reason.

I went through this, too when I was searching for a job. All sorts of companies give potential employees the "run around". I would call every other day and if in a week, no one calls back, I would say "Adios!!!"

I would suggest waiting it out. If u keep calling you'll look like your desperate..

With any job I've found that if they say they'lll call u.. then wait for the call. If you receive no call, then that usually means they've found a more suitable candidate

give it another week then call back saying you realize your past calls may have been over-looked due to the moving/rearranging..but that you're anxious to know how your interview went and your chances of being hired.
