I work 8-5 M-F. I am a secretary in a garage. I so far today have done my work orders for Monday, cleaned my office, cleaned the bathroom, read the paper, filed and painted my nails, filed my paperwork for the week, done the deposit, played games on POGO, talked to my sister, answered and asked a bunch of questions on here, swept the empty work bays, processed the mail, and there are still 1.5 hours left in my day. What else can I do to fill the time. Winter is a slow time for us but my boss wants me here all day just to answer the phone so it doesn't bug him while he's working. Any suggestions?

In response to Angelica- There are only 3 of us here, my boss me and another mechanic. I do about as much as I possibly can, besides work on the cars. I do try to come up with stuff to help things run smoother but sometimes there is still too much time in the day. Thanks for the suggestion though.

work on a plan to bring new customers, marketing..or flyer's to be sent out, start a mailing list, using the customers you have on file, build it so when you come up with a sales flyer, you can present it to the boss...he will like your effort, might be so impressed that you might get a raise or promotion....

How is the pay? If you can take on more work, tell your employer, and they will probably pay you more as well. I assume that you are at the very least "meeting their expectations".... therefore, you are going above and beyond! If you are, then your employer should be seeing that, and you should be given more responsibility. Just ask for more, and I bet with the fast office pace these days, it will be given to you. Just ask; good luck.

Ask your boss for a project. Show that you want more and can handle a heavy workload. Ask other employees if they ave something you can help them with. I am sure the owners of the company have something for you to do.

You have an incredible opportunity to go to school and do your homework on company time. Much better than wasting your time on the computer.
