Apply for unemployment compensation. Check your state website - most states let you apply online from their website. And get looking for another job.

We've all been there, I'm sure. File for unemployment, then sign up with a temp agency. The last 4 jobs I've gotten were through temp agencies. If the company you're temping at likes you and your work, and they have job openings, you usually have the inside track. At least that's how it's always worked for me.

It depends upon your intentions. Either way, yes, apply for worker's comp., but depending upon the state you live in, I would also consider contacting the EEOC for your state and discuss your rights with an EEOC staff attorney. There should have been some explanation for the layoff - performance issues, downsizing, etc. If you feel you have a wrongful termination suit you could visit with a few attorneys to determine if any of them feel you have a justified case they may represent you on. Most plaintiff attorney's work on a percentage of the awarded funds received based on cases won, and do not charge for the initial consultation.

Go file for unemployment right away. It usually takes a few weeks before you get your first check so you will want to go do this right away. The first week you won't get paid then on the second week you will receive your pay. Just remember to fill out the job search form every week as thats what they will require you to do.
