Why do they keep hiring old new people at my job?

2007-11-04 07:51:26 · 7 answers · asked by Jane 6

I am the middle manager for one of my employees. I didn't hire her nor can I fire her, that's up to my superiors. But she does "answer" to me in the chain of command. Well, every once in a while she will make unfounded complaints about me. She will be nice for a while, but then out of nowhere will complain to the union or to my superior. And her complaints are often about things that I can't control. She would blame me for the weather if she could. Any suggestions?

ok here's the situation .
I worked at E-Z Pass from this March till July ( 5 months ) .

I graduated last year with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree. And I am looking for a job as an entry level electrical or computer engineer or atleast a Technical Job.
But unfortunately I am weak in the dreaded "Previous experience category " - my experience with E-Z pass was actually Customer Service Representating .

Is there anyway that I can bend this position title and Time period like the following "which will make it sound more Technical than "Customer Service" and make my 5 month exp . sound like " close to a year's worth " ?

here's what i have so far
------------------
I have close to a year's worth of experience working as a Customer Service technician at E-Z Pass center in New York, where I performed analytical checks and quality assurance procedures for E-Z Pass tag products.

-----------------

I would really appreciate any help

Thanks.

I need a job. I have been unemployed for about 6 months now and I have gone through my savings. I'm married and my husband has been paying for the bills I have accrued seperate from our joint accounts. He is suportive but I don't like having to depend on him for $$. I have been interviewing for jobs for about 3 months now and I have not gotten call backs. WHat I have been told is I am over qualified--I have a BA in psychology and hours into my Master's but due to credentialing differences I can't finish my degree here in CA, this is not where we are looking at living for more than 2 years, we are military--HOWEVER, I still have bills. I was offered a job making $12 an hour range, no benefits and no room for advancement. But it is income. Should I keep holding out for a job that feels right for me or should I settle and just start bringing in some income? I have been told numerous times, I'm over qualified---but $$ IS $$!!!

It states that I "May be required to work additional hours when required and my salary includes an element for this" therefore it seems they will have a ticket to unlimited overtime from me with no pay. Should I sign or anyone know a tactful way around this?

I have a job interview next week. I want to find out more about the job first because the last few interviews I have been on have been a TOTAL waste of time and gas.I really should have asked more questions.I want to know what the physical demands of the job are, standing, sitting at a desk, etc., and what amount of time is spent working indoors and outdoors. There is also a minimum level of pay I will accept. But, I do not want to sound difficult. At the same time, I do not want to waste my time or someone else's. Is there a way of phrasing the question, such as, "can you tell me a little more about the job? Will I be at a desk or standing or walking? What percentage of the work day is spent indoors and outdoors?" I looked on the companys website and there is no job description. I looked on job board websites, put in the job title and got different descriptions for the same job from each company.

I've heard both ways: Some people say to list interests such as sports, music, computers, etc. And others say leave all that crap out.

I am looking to get a corporate position in a nice business setting. What do you say? Include interests, or leave them out? Thanks

Is there a way that or a particular job that does not have a micro managing supervisor or owner.

I work in accounting and it seems that there are a lot of micro managing owners and supervisors. How can I get through this. Does it require job longevity? What can be done to eliminate jobs that require micro managing?

I have thought about applying for receptionist or admin position so avoid these type of managers. I have a 4 your degree in business admin and graduated *** laude.

Do you have any recommended website/forum where I could post this message?

And what is the hourly rate for a student to do some market research on the web?

would it still be better if she still wore a jacket and matching skirt? clothing stores like Macey's have racks and racks of pant suits for women--more than of dresses.

I notifyied my employer that I would be leaving my position at their company. This guy is such a mis-manager that he had me 1) place ads for my job position, 2) screen applicants, and 3) expects me to tag-team in interviewing candidates. Eventually, I will be training the chosen person, which I have no problem with. But I do not feel comfortable with being in on the interview sessions with these candidates. He is so used to having things done for him, or being constantly reminding of his responsibilities, I feel that he is just asking me to shoulder the decision-making in this process. Is this a viable concern?

He has graduated high school which by todays standards mean nothing. But he has also lived and travelled extensively through asia. And now has 4 years experience teaching English in both Hong kong and Taiwan. He got these jobs using a doctored degree which was an old friends. now going back into the real world(Canada) he is worried there is nothing more than factory work for him. Any suggestions on jobs that a 28yr old male could apply for once back in the home land?

I am working towards a degree in finance in school.
Right now i do more of IT/Marketing stuff for a growing company and the hours are very flexible and the environment is great. I love working there.

Now i have a chance to go and work for Merrill Lynch as a temp in operations doing low level job. Around the same pay or more. Hours are very strict and job is boring and tedious.
However, this would be a huge resume builder for me. It's an operations job. I hope i dont feel awkward as a guy there.

What do you think?

I was so excited about the job, but now i heard more about it and don't feel too excited anymore.

But even if i go to ML i can still work as a consultant for my current company.
