I am working towards a degree in finance in school.
Right now i do more of IT/Marketing stuff for a growing company and the hours are very flexible and the environment is great. I love working there.

Now i have a chance to go and work for Merrill Lynch as a temp in operations doing low level job. Around the same pay or more. Hours are very strict and job is boring and tedious.
However, this would be a huge resume builder for me. It's an operations job. I hope i dont feel awkward as a guy there.

What do you think?

I was so excited about the job, but now i heard more about it and don't feel too excited anymore.

But even if i go to ML i can still work as a consultant for my current company.

I wouldn't give up a stable, flexible job for a temp position, no matter what the company. From my experience, most all companies use and lose their temps once they are done with them. Finding a good paying, flexible job while in college is quite rare. Stay where you are.

Big companies tend to hire temps for "house clearing operations", for seasonal projects, and for new or experimental programs, all of which has a fixed termination time. I would say you stay where you are. Stable jobs with flexible time is great for your current situation right now, being a student.

Never make a career decision based on pay.
