Is there a way that or a particular job that does not have a micro managing supervisor or owner.

I work in accounting and it seems that there are a lot of micro managing owners and supervisors. How can I get through this. Does it require job longevity? What can be done to eliminate jobs that require micro managing?

I have thought about applying for receptionist or admin position so avoid these type of managers. I have a 4 your degree in business admin and graduated *** laude.

As I understand it, you have a problem where people micro manage you. Is that correct?

There are two big factors that come to mind. What is the personality of the manager? How many managers have you worked for? Is there a tendancy for people in the accounting field to micro manage other people? The stereotype of some accountants is that they are very detail oriented people. Some would call them "nerds" or "analytical." Those types of people may have a tendancy to micro manage.

But another factor is, what types of people allow themselves to be micromanaged? People who are shy, who are soft spoken, who are unsure of themselves or their work skills, people who are new to the accounting profession, etc. I used to manage a bookkeeper in an accounting department. Some of what she did had to be exact because it was for the big boss or for the IRS or for the state tax department. There's a lot of stuff in accounting that has to be exact, and if the boss points out errors that's not necessarily micro managing. Other things are not so precise.

I think job longetivity and experience will help. Acting confident may help.

I think you will be paid less and will not be using your skills in accounting if you switch to a reception or Admin position. And some of that work is exacting work.

When you interview at a company, try to figure out what kind of personality the boss has. Also, tell the manager that you like to work independently and need some autonomy.

I think that you should think about this before you leave the profession. And think about whether your feelings are due to a particular boss or due to your own personality and how it reacted to your boss.

Do your job correctly and pay attention to detail.

And from your post, I believe that you need to be micromanaged. There are several mistakes in your post.

If you were running numbers, I would have to check your work.
