What would you do about a back stabbing co-worker?

Backstabbing is a sign of envy and ignorance. Like people who are very deep in politics at work, these people are trying to hide their inadequacy, incompetence and ignorance, by diverting others' attention to people who are really good.

Confronting this type of person will only worsen the situation and this will ultimately be viewed by upper management as petty squables. If you want to get back to them, you start watching their work, and I assure you the quality will be below par of your standard, this is where you may hit that person because this is where it would hurt most.

Confronting will just make the situation worse. And I would not try to bait this person by confiding in them and feeding false information. That will backfire on you and make you look foolish.

This is my advice: document everything.
Ask both your boss and your co-worker to put in writing exactly what they want you to do. That way, your co-worker can't say that you misunderstood it or it wasn't what he meant. If they won't do that or you'd rather not ask them to do it, send them a memo or an e-mail saying "It is my understanding that you need the following:", then list everything. Ask them for any comments. Be sure to code your e-mails to show a read/receipt. If that isn't feasible, you could confirm what they want vebally with both of them when the 3 of you are together at the same time. I'm a firm believer in putting everything in writing because you'll never be misquoted. If you give your co-worker a chance to comment and clarify what he needs before you send your final information in, he'll look like a fool and an obvious backstabber if he tries to show you up after the fact.

Include date and time on everything. Use the words "this is to confirm" . Document, document, and then document some more. Have a paper trail that cannot be disputed. Even if the three of you are in the room together when a decision or course of action is decided, document. If your boss asks why in the world you are being so fanatic with the paper follow up, be ready to explain why you are doing so in such a way that you appear reasonable and not over reactive.

I wish you well.

Avoid her and do not let her affect you. Your work is far more important than your back stabbing co-worker. People who usually back stabs are the kind of people who have nothing better to do or jealous of you or worst they are unhappy.

Just be thankful you are not like that and just concentrate on your work. Excel in what you do and focus on good/happy/nice people around you.

People who back stabs are not worth your time, energy and attention!!!

Keep your ears open and do not share any info that they can use against you.
I am sure folks know about her games so I would not worry about her.

Also, even if you wish you could legally kick her down a flight of steps, do not let your other co workers know what you feel about her. Why give her the staisfaction of knowing that she is getting under you skin?

I decided to make things interesting when this happened to me and started getting "colorful" if you will, when talking to this person. I would not only fudge my stories but even flat out lie to her. That way she went away thrilled to death that she had something to gossip about to everybody and anybody and I got to feel justified about what an *ss she really was. The best part is when they come back days later bringing it up in a way as to question the actual facts but really don't know how since it would make them look as bad as they are.
In your case, whatever happened, you may just have to swallow it as a lesson learned, but get even in subtle ways that won't effect your job. Now that you know she/he is not your friend, let them think they are and get creative, just don't even make the same mistake with them again.

With a very friendly approach, I shall be confiding in him and keep on feeding with a good lot of misinformation. If he falls for them, and use them,he will be exposed to all in no time. Keep an alert eye on him to know what are his next steps against you.
