I've been at a job for 3 months and will be moving out of state next week. I've only planned to give 1 week notice as I am a temp and the location will be closing within the next year. I work for a staffing company. I know I need to let my staffing co. know but I guess I should also say something to my supervisor at my actual place of work? Would you say something later today or early tomorrow? What would you do?

Also, I have heard that I could be fired when I give notice. I'm in FL btw. Is this true?

Your actual employer is the Temp service. It is only your duty to inform them, they will inform you current supervisor.

I worked for a company through the temp agency and I wasn't allowed to call and tell them I was going to be out sick. I had to call my temp company and they informed the supervisor.

Hope this helps.

The temp agency should get the notice as soon as you can. Generally, early notices work in your favor.

As for the place you are posted- tell any friends you may have made there as soon as makes sense to you. Everyone else, including your immediate supervisor, you simply inform that you will be moving out of state and that you enjoyed working with them. This can happen up to the day you leave.

The place you are posted will get a new temp, and generally- places that use temps a lot do not get too attached to them.

The staffing company is your employer. You report to them, not to your direct Supervisor at the company where you are working.

The staffing company will find a replacement. It does not mean they will have someone handy and may take a few days or longer to fill the position.

Good luck on your relocation!

Yes, Florida is an "at will" state and they can and probably will fire you very soon after you give notice.

Remember the golden rule ~~~~
Why would you want to wait another day to tell your supervisor
I'd say do it now and get it off your shoulders.

too late for your question now cuz it's customary to give 2 weeks notice, so get your letter to the manager now.
