Recently, I've been looking at a management job at my employer. I currently have a "grunt labor" position that pays only about 1-2 thousand more a year since overtime has been wiped out. The position means I won't work outside all year in the elements, the company provides management with a cell phone, so I won't have to use mine anymore, and there are some people above me that will be ready for retirement in a year or so. I've never had a salary job before, and wonder those of you who do, can let me know what the benifits of it would be compared to an hourly scale. My wife worries about the horrors of working 50+ hours a week and being uncompensated for it, but I've never really seen the person who was in the job last work more than 45/ week. I think personally that I need to think of moving up in the company and establishing a carrer instead of "just another job". What do you think?

i am hoping to find another part time job, but i am unsure whether or not to show my previous part time job on my cv. the reason for this is because i left through what i believe was unfair dismissal. i was asked to work a day that i do not normally work, otherwise i had to leave. i was unable to work this day, and i thought this was very unfair so i left.

because of this whole situation i do not have a good relationship with my previous employers, and therefore i am worried that if i put it on my cv then future employers will want to contact them and ask for a reference, which is not likley to be good because of the circumstances.

however, as this is was my only part time job then it is the only experience i have, which could give me more chance of getting a job. so i am not sure whether to put it on there or not.

.. that I lead by example?

What does that mean.

I intepret it to mean that the rest of the staff members follow me and try to work as hard as me.

Is that right?

I will be starting nursing school this fall, and I am excited about it. But I have heard that doctors are ALWAYS condescending and rude to nurses. I am uppity, so this may not be the profession for me if that's the case.

I have done a few job searches in the Internet, and almost all the employers are asking if I'm eligible to work in the U.S. and this gives me confusion. I'm a Filipino resident citizen. I have trained twice in Houston, TX for oil and petro accounting and was given a B1 visa. Now, my visa has expired since I'm just required to work within the time provided by it. In my case, how will I answer if I'm being asked the above question?

What I want to know is, does checking "no" on this option reduce your chances of getting a job? One might not want their current employer to know that they are searching for another job (lest they be fired or face uncomfortable questions), but others I've spoken to feel that this is like telling your interviewer you have something to hide.

Is it safe to use this option, then, on applications?

my husband has two job offers, both at the same hourly wage, but one is 40 hrs a week and the other is 50-60hrs a week. we are kinda swayed by the thought of the extra overtime money, but we also have a special needs son and I am pregnant, so there are alot of family demands that he would be stressed by if he were working those hours.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO!!!!!

I have had an off the books job for about two years now. It was my first job. I am now 20, and I am wondering if it would be wiser to get a job on the books. I love my job now because I make so much money at the pizzeria, but my boyfriend keeps telling me I should get a job on the books because I can't say that I have experience. HELP??!!

There's this woman at my job who was hired by one of the corporate bigwigs to sell in my market and others. She works out of my department but reports to the bigwig, not me. She hasn't sold squat in my market yet, but supposedly is this great salesperson. She and I don't get along. She's always sending me these emails (cc'ing her boss and mine) about things that aren't right in my department, support she's not getting, etc. I think she's a total snake who just wants to make me look bad. I manage ten other people of various backgrounds, personalities, ages, etc. and manage to get along with all of them. I've tried to get along with her but it seems all she wants to do with me is to embarrass me or put me down. I know she feels she's untouchable because she's the big boss' old friend and former co-worker. I now keep contact with her to a business-only bare minimum and even made some friendly gestures but all I get in return is more of her crap. Thoughts?

i guess ebooks could cover anything, from electronic copies of manuals to your favourite novel.

i am curently stuck in a dead end part-time job, and desperately need to get out. i'd love to work for myself earning money my own way and then i though of ebooks. i don't have incredibly fast typing skills but they are accurate, i can use all main microsoft packages (inc. publisher) and can learn new programs quickly.

but what i wanna know is: who writes these things? where would i start? can i do it too from home? and what sort of money could i make?
i don't need a lot to live on and a minimum of the equivalent of £60 (approx US$120 or AU$143) a week would be fine.

In training, we're told we are only allowed to miss 2 full days in the first 90 days before they terminate you. I recently missed 4 days due to a painful miscarriage, and they are considering letting me go...is this grounds for a lawsuit? I wasn't admitted to the hospital; however, I did end up in the ER on the third day...
