should you turn in a resume with your application or just the resume and no job application?

A resume never hurts. It depends on the type of job you're applying for though - for something like entry level retain or fast food, just the application is fine - if it's a professional job, then a resume would be important.

If you send in just a resume and get interviewed, then if they want you to fill out an application they'll give it to you then - some companies insist on everyone filling out their application forms, some don't.
