1) Do your research - find out what you can online or through friends about the company. Pick up any brochures or visit the location if you can without your potential employer knowing. This way when they ask you if you have any questions, you are showing them that you have done your research by the questions you ask.
2) Don't ask what they pay during the interview. Save discussions about salary until they bring them up, or until they present you an offer.
3) Dress and groom well. "A first impression is a lasting impression" and within the first few moments of meeting you they will already have many 'beliefs' about you. Make sure your shoes are clean and polished, clothes clean and pressed. And appropriate (if you're interviewing for a job mowing lawns then its ok to wear jeans. If you're interviewing for a job where you will wear a uniform, wear a jacket and tie. If you're interviewing for a job where you will wear suits, then wear a suit - and a conservative one. Don't wear much jewelry - only a watch, no more than one ring, and possibly cufflinks if in a suit. Don't wear cologne. Do use mouthwash prior to the interview but don't chew gum.
4) Be relaxed but attentive. Don't act as though you are desperate for the job, but do show interest and enthusiasm.
5) practice typical interview questions with someone, and have answers prepared that show you in a good light. Such as "Tell us one of your faults"...... "one of my faults is having too high of expectations of others; holding them to the same standards that I hold myself to. I'm aware that I sometimes do this so I'm conscious of this when I am expecting something from someone else in the organization".
6) send a thank you note to the person who interviewed you, thanking them for their time and expressing your interest, but don't call them every day to find out if you have the job.

Good luck! And if part way through the interview you realize you don't want the job, continue the interview for practice. And if they don't offer you the job, don't sweat it. Again, consider it practice. You will really never know why they didn't - maybe you reminded the person who interviewed you of someone they don't care for, or maybe they were forced to give the job to a relative of an investor.

do not worry ... just rehears the situation of the interwive for 15 mins in solitude...here r little but imp things which u can do
1. Go through ur resume thoroughly as they will be asking u eveything from ur biodata only...and find out the possible Q's they might ask u..(imagine as if u r the interviwer and u have such a resume in ur hand )
2.carry all ur necessary documents like certificates , marksheets with u.
3.Try to answer in such a way that the company shd feel that u r thinking from company's point of view...for eg. why shd we hire u ?
4. If they ask u about ur weak points then the answer shd be "workoholism", "coming before time""perfection" etc.
5.Dress which u r going to wear , u try it a day before for atleast 1 hr so that u will be comfortable at the time of interview if it is a different dress than routine.
6. Be 1/2 hr early at the vineu so that u will be comfortable...for that start early for u r place...
7. try to find out as much as information about the company .
I think this may help u face u interview comfotably...anthing else u can mail me...

This is the best tip I have ever received before an interview:

They will always ask you the "tell me about your weaknesses" question.

Respond with an answer that is really a strength rather than a weakness, such as "I have to finish tasks in a timely manner that I have already started." That will score you big bonus points.

Also, be completely honest. Have a completely honest resume...employers are expertly experienced at conducting interviews and can smell when you aren't being completely honest right away...and usually when this happens, you get a "thank you for coming...we'll be in touch"....which translates to a big fat NO!

A huge thing to remember is really to just be yourself...if you aren't right for the job, then it is not the end of the world. As long as you are yourself and completely honest in everything you say and do, you will eventually land that dream job. And even if it took 5 or 10 years to get that dream job, in the long run, wouldn't it be worth it to have the job of your dreams rather than being stuck in a job that you hate for many years because you weren't being true to yourself?

Best wishes to you. hope this helped a bit! = ))

#1 - BE HONEST! I've heard about many people getting an offer letter then failing the background check.

From my experience and from advice from friends who are managers and have done extensive interviewing....
Having good questions to ask the interviewer is great.
Read up on the company, and the position and have some planned.
Also be sure to listen well to what they tell you, and find ways to put that info into future comments or questions.
Dress professionally, no matter what the position.
Speak about the position as if you're going to get it, things like, "As a member of the project team, my experience with xxx will help us to complete the project under budget." or something like that. (couldn't think of a good example)
Good luck!

dont be nervous, search the company before the interview so that you know what they do, their competitors etc, try your best to answer the questions, if you cant answer a question just be honest. Dress well, a suit and a tie, they should match. take shower it makes you feel good. Dont think the world is gonna end: if you dont get this one, there are many out there waiting.

Don't chew gum. Walk directly up to the interviewee and shake their hand. Breath deep and remember to relax. Try not fidget too much. Be prepared for the "Tell me about yourself" question. Make sure you thank them for their time, and ask how soon they plan on filling the position...that way you will know if you haven't gotten a callback by that date, then the job is not yours. Best of luck!
