One check before Christmas and my job over pays me $166. They catch the error ask me not to touch it but I told them I had already been using it. They pulled thier money back out through the direct deposit leaving the account overdrawn by over $300, and insufficiant funds charges on the way. They are using an outdated excuse that they are not obligated to pay because the handbook says checks are given on Friday. I work a 3-day 12 hour shift and before that 4-day 10 hour. I can't remember the last check I got on a Friday! Also they have not used a Friday pay date for my shift for a long time. Guess it is convient to keep an old outdated handbook around while ruining a Christmas for a 6 year employee. I got my Christmas check Dec. 29th.

It's something called a Financial Sevices Rep III at a large financial printer. Problem is when I do internet searches to guesstimate salaries the jobs I find are clearly not describing the same position as this one- same title, totally different responsibilities. Is it wrong to ask the prospective employer for the salary range? They want salary requirements along with resume and I don't want to blow it.

My former boss, Michael R H***es recently interviewed 3 of us in my current department for a sales position. I dressed to the nines for both the 1st and 2nd interview, and was very confident and concise (avoided ums, uhs) and gave a really good interview. He made almost no eye contact and made derogatory comments to me in both the interview and feedback session. I had said that I needed work on a specific area and he said it back as if I didn't know anything about sales or my current role. I am far from perfect, but he was also demeaning of me on my year end review, and I had to fight like hell to get my current position; in fact every person I talked to on the team of 30 or so people said I had shown that I deserve the job. I no longer work for him, but my question really is, how to deal with such a slimy person? He is making his hiring decisions on favorites rather than qualifications, and has a blatant history of doing so.

My boss told me that he is giving me $500 as a holiday bonus. But today when I checked my bank account to see if the direct deposit was posted it was only for $460. Do they take taxes away from your holiday bonus money? (My company uses Paychex)

here is the scenerio...i make about $60k/year plus bonus. im an IT guy for a financial/technology consultant firm. business been slow and they have been laying off some consultants and not-essential office staffs(marketing guy and recruiters).

i have been with the company since sept. 2007. im not that busy maybe like couple of hrs of work each day. i support about 60-70 ppl. and i always wanting to work from home. so what do u think if i tell my boss if im willing to take a 10% paycut to work at home one day a week? what do u think he would say?

my boss like to save money and always ask me what we can do to save the company money etc. but he also is a tough boss. he likes to work long hour in the office. he comes in 8:30am and work till sometimes 7 or 8 pm at nite.

so if i ask him this, do u think he will get offended and fire me? or not give me a bonus or a salary raise? what is the worst that can come of this? maybe he thinks im making too much?

I am finishing a planned year off after having graduated from college. (to spend time with my family and travel)

I graduated from a top tier university with a BA and a 3.63 GPA, which is decent.

But here's what makes my situation a bit unique: I'm 30

I returned to school at the age of 25 as I wasn't able to attend college straight out of HS. I worked in sales out of HS and did well but decided I HAD to return to school.

I knew that given my particular situation that if I wanted to take some time off, this would likely be my only opportunity. As such, I took it and have not worked this year save for running a bit of an eBay business to make ends meet.

I'd really like to get into financial advising and am absolutely willing to work my backside off in order to do so.

Here's my question: how will potential employers see this? Will this be viewed as a negative?

Thanks for any insight into my scenario.
