I have a job working in sales. And it is killing me. I see other coworkers in other offices who (looking from my perspective) seem to have an advantage in sales because of their location. I love the customer service part of my job...helping people, getting them into the right product or service...But I also have quotas. How do I get good leads? How else can I get my name out there besides cold calls? How far will networking REALLY get me? How do I network? Why do I feel like I am busting my hump with little progress? HELP!

These people called me and said they saw my resume on hotjobs and wants to schedule an interview(never heard of them). I was kinda iffy about that because my resume thats posted on hotjobs is for administrative assistance/clerical not sales(?). I have no sales experience whatsoever and these people have sent countless emails and have contacted me 3 times already to remind me about my interview tomorrow. After reading a lot of other questions about this company on answers, everything is really summing up my suspensions. Why are they so eager to interview someone who didn't apply for the job and doesn't have sales experience? Is this one of those companies that sounds good, but once you get the job, you find out its sorta like a scam? Is it strictly commission only?

A supermarket tells the public, that they interview and hire college students. That supermarket starts interviewing people for jobs, and a college student applies for the job. The college student qualifies for the job, and then they refuse to interview and hire the college student for no reason. If they say they hire college students, theres no need to turn down a college student for a job. A lot of the supermarkets by me do this all the time.

Ok, first off I am a hard worker at every job that I have ever had and have never pulled any kind of stuff like this before.

So I've been at this retail job for a few months, and as some of you may know, that in retail business, taking any days off around christmas is like a snow ball's chance in hell. My girl friend's family has invited me to visit Hawaii for christmas! I live in Alabama....and am not very well traveled, and to get the chance to go to Hawaii or continue my 7 dollar an hour job, isn't much of a hard decision.

*My question is, what big excuse can I use to not have to come in for awhile, I will eventually just never go back of course, but I might want to use them as a reference later on.

(side note)Also there is this other guy I work with who basically, me and him have the exact same job there and he seems to ALWAYS have some reason of not showing up to work, making me work twice as hard, and should have been fired several times, yet is still employed.

I am new to car sales and I would like to know what the proper etiquette is. I did really well last month, out sold all the other sales people by almost double what the second highest person sold, and it seems I am only told things that I did wrong and not things that could help me. Most of the other sales people seem sour and dont even want to help/tell me the most basic things. If you have any advice or even just anything to help me exceed and be more successful please tell.
