I am new to car sales and I would like to know what the proper etiquette is. I did really well last month, out sold all the other sales people by almost double what the second highest person sold, and it seems I am only told things that I did wrong and not things that could help me. Most of the other sales people seem sour and dont even want to help/tell me the most basic things. If you have any advice or even just anything to help me exceed and be more successful please tell.

I am only asking what is proper and what is not to do in the field of car sales. I have only been doing this for 2 months and before I was managing apartment complexes, which is quite different. I do not know what is exspected out of me and what not.

I am holding gross on most of the cars, but I do get some that want the "best" price. I am also setting up for finance to be able to sell warrenties, which makes me more money. I only had three "minis" which I would think would be good. What I was trying to get out of asking this questions is things like What exactly is "stacking" "flipping" and what not. I guess I didnt put my question into right words.

Beware of Burn Out! You are probably selling alot of car because your pumped. your more than likely talking to alot of people, and since your new to this your being very polite to the customers. I really don't want to sound like an A** but selling cars gets old fast. You sold alot of cars right.. well did you make any money or did you give them all away!! Not to burst your bubble but Anyone can give a car away! Holding gross is the key. If you want to stay successful, keep doing what your doing, be nice, the other salespeople don't pay your bill so don't worry about them. I had a sales manager years ago that always said " when your green you grow, when your ripe you rot". What that means is don't get too smart, stay green, if not you'll start prejudging deals. I'm almost certain that your talking to EVERYONE who walks in the door and those other sales people are " judging " whose a buyer and whose not from " experience " stay green my man, and be cool to the customers. Stay in contact with your buyers and you will see that after 5-6 years all those people you sold cars to will be coming back to talk to YOU! Guaranteed sales! Good Luck

People who sell cars are constantly in the public eye and should therefore always practice proper etiquette and display good manners to satisfy guests. In addition to high customer interaction, a person who sells cars spends more time at his or her job than at home. Because of this, there is also etiquette to follow with co-workers, management and other departments of the dealership.

1.Addressing the Public
2lAcknowledgement
3.Emotions
4.The Service Department
5.Management
6.Taking Customers
7.Word Use and Gossip

Ignore this ignorant chick above me. Keep doing what you're doing right, and you will quickly move on the better and more financially rewarding realms. Good luck!

Welcome to adulthood. If you need to be constantly told how smart and handsome you are, you need to work for your mommy. Seriously, this is how the working world works. You're not always given positive reinforcement and you have to learn to give it to yourself.
