i am hoping to find another part time job, but i am unsure whether or not to show my previous part time job on my cv. the reason for this is because i left through what i believe was unfair dismissal. i was asked to work a day that i do not normally work, otherwise i had to leave. i was unable to work this day, and i thought this was very unfair so i left.

because of this whole situation i do not have a good relationship with my previous employers, and therefore i am worried that if i put it on my cv then future employers will want to contact them and ask for a reference, which is not likley to be good because of the circumstances.

however, as this is was my only part time job then it is the only experience i have, which could give me more chance of getting a job. so i am not sure whether to put it on there or not.

If it is your only previous job, you should list it. Your part time experience is better then no experience.

If you're concerned what information a potential reference may be giving out; here are two suggestions:
1) Call your former employer and ask, "May I put you down as a reference." Often if they're not comfortable saying good things about you, they'll say no.
2) Have a friend call and check your references.

Some companies that have a "neutral reference" policy. If this the case, they will only verify that you worked at that company for the period of time you were there.

If empolyers would know you worked there even though it was not on your resume then why would a resume be necesary as the employer must be phsychic. You can put it on though... just don't use them as a reference and don't tell them the negatives of the job. You need to show some experience.. customer service etc at least. Give your references seperately. My references are not necesarily anyone Ive worked for... they don't have to be. You can use school teachers/advisers if there is someone that you had a great repor with/ perhaps that oversaw a school organization or special task you did, a community group leader that knows you, volunteer supervisor and various other people

I would put it on there...
Legally, your previous employer cannot disclose what happened to your new employer. The one question they can ask that may pertain to this is "would you hire her again?"

But definitely put it on there... they might not even call, but you need that history on there.

P.S. When you describe your "reason for leaving"... don't complain about the company... be fair and unbiased. No employer wants to hire somene that complains about their previous jobs... that shows a negative attitude.

It's experience, and you are likely to get weightage for that! A good employer will appreciate your honesty and straightforward approach, if and when you explain (if required) the circumstances under which you left the previous job!

Yes put it on your CV, not everybody calls for a reference, and even when they do, you can always explain, right...
