Not necessarily.
You could go to Physical Therapy school.
Or you could do mechanical engineering, or robotics, or programming, and get involved with prosthetic design.

Hey, good for you..
Go talk to an Army & Navy recruiter... Do not sign any papers until you get what you want..
Chances are, that they will pay for your school if you sign a contract with them that you will go into the service after you complete your schooling..This is a good deal..
The Military have some of the best schools in the world.
Good luck & God Bless.

No....you could go to nursing school. It would only take 2-4 years, and would cost A LOT LESS than the education being a doctor can cost. Or, you could become a physical therapist, another degree that isn't as time or cost consuming.

See that recruiter.
There are two good places to start your career. In the military. If the military isn't for you, there's the VA, or a military job as a civilian.
Goodluck.

Why don't you volunteer at a VA hospital.. sometimes the best medicine is having a friend sit with you and talk to you.

If you don't want to become a physician, consider:
nursing;
physical therapy;
occupational therapy;
speech/language pathology;
audiology;
psychology;
social work
You can even enlist in the armed forces and they will pay for your education...
