I'm not too sure but I think it means that you lead through setting an example of goodness, so people follow you as a good example.
Well done :)

Not only that, there is a tacit expectation for this performance to continue. While most managers will notice a quality work ethic, few have enough confidence in themselves to actually use it to their advantage. Obviously, this is not a problem for your manager. Realize that he may cite you as an example to others in the company. Even though this type of recognition may not seem to be as immediately profitable as a bonus or raise, the long term effect should be very positive.
Also, this "broad brush" compliment includes the manner in which you present yourself. How you look and what you say, are just as important as what you do. Looks like you have everything covered. Good Luck.

You must never expect others to do what you would not do. You must be fair, firm, friendly and dependable. If you have to correct someone, do it in private. You have succeeded as a leader when your team works just as well in your absence. Be constantly on the lookout for heroes in your own life to admire and emulate. Adopt their styles. Then, lead by example.

Your method of working is professional and consistently high performing. It is your nature to be like this and well done for being this way - some things can't be learnt and your self motivation and manner is one of them. Keep it up and you will go far!

He meant it for other staff members...do not walk behind him. for he may not lead. Do not walk ahead of him, for he may not follow. Do not walk beside him for the path is narrow. In fact just fukk off and leave him alone.
