Paperwork and training. You will fill out all your new hire documents so bring your ID's, passport if you have one, social security card, and know what tax status you want to claim or if you can file exempt. You will also receive an overview of the company, your job responsibilities and expectations, and a review of company policies.

What it is is a time where they explain the job what is required, what your benefits are, what your hours are, and fill you in on the company to a great extent. They will most likely also give you a tour of the area, including where you will be working and doing introduce you to some employees etc. You will be schooled in their safety, and quality rules, Diversity, what to do or who to contact if you have a work or personal problem. basically an overall view of company policy and what the general rules and regulations that you will have to abide by, and where you can go if others do not abide by them. Usually, orientation occurs AFTER you have been hired. Orientation is a basic training course for the company. In some companies, however, it is the second step of the job interview.
