I left a job to take another. Now I want to go back to my old job, and my old employer would welcome me back, so it's not like I won't have a job to go back to. My question is, how soon is too soon to leave the new job? If I go back to my old job, I won't be leaving it. Now I know the right decision for me is to stay with the old company. Also, I have a bit of egg on my face at this point.
Also, what do I say when resigning from this new job? I got myself in a bit of a bind.

i'm a cashier so i need to be faster in taking orders. I'm thinking of taking 4 orders at a time and then start presenting their orders, then take the next 4 and do the same thing instead of dealing with customers 1 by 1. Will this strategy help me to get faster?

I'm part way through a deployment here in Iraq with the United States Army. I want to go to college after we return to the US but I am not sure how I would get accepted into a school or go about enrolling. I graduated High School in 2004 and never planned on going to college and now I want to get a degree so after I am done in the Army I have something I can do career wise. I'm looking at wanting to teach High School level History. If anyone can help this soldier with this issue I will be very thankfull.

My boss at work is only giving us 1 break (a 30 minute lunch with 10 minutes added on) for a full days shift. Myself and some coworkers are very upset and since this is ongoing and getting worse, we want to report this issue. But I can't find any details on how to report it. Anyone know?

I have recently decided that I would like to become either a web designer or web developer...I spend quite a bit of time online and really would like to learn how to build my own website. I am thinking of taking a few courses at the Art institute of Washington so I can get a diploma in web design. I suppose I just wanted to ask if it would be worth while for me to do so? I see many job listing around the area for web designers so I wouldn't have a problem finding work if I have a good enough portfolio but is web design a good career path to choose?

Im 15 years old--turning 16 later this year--and im going to go to a junior college after summer.

i have already graduated from high school and been accepted to the local junior college that i mentioned above.

next semester i will be taking calculus; and i know that i want to major in something with numbers... but im not sure what...

everyone is saying i should be an engineer but that doesnt sound very appealing to me. are there any careers that JUST require one to deal with numbers?... and not machinery or robots or anything?...

If you have or had worked retail... No matter how you serve them, everyone in the retail business, has or had, customers from hell. Some people think their money entitles them to abuse clerks and managers.
And what about your nicest customer? I'm hoping you will share your story.

Please share your good and bad stories working retail. Thanks!

I'm collecting Unemployment Insurance from California but I just found a fulltime job. Does EDD know when I started my new job? How do they know? I figured I can get an extra week or so before they find out. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

My brother just started a job with a car dealership, & he has to pay $250, just to get his job application processed. I thought that you must NEVER pay for applying for a job.

If someone agrees to be a reference for me, is it necessary (or even protocol) to notify them beforehand if you know (and especially if you know for sure) that a potential will call him or her? Does it show courtesy (or that I'm a pain) if I notify the reference and ask him/her when it would be most convenient for them to take the call?

I've gotten different feedback about both questions, and I'm not sure what's the best action to do.

Two of my references are upper-level management from my past jobs. I don't want to give them for EVERY job I apply to because I don't want to impose too much or make them frustrated if they happen to get multiple calls. (Some places have screened references before they offered me the position.)

I just want to do the right thing. Can anyone help?

I watch three kids, a 1 year-old, a 9 year-old and a 13 year-old, from about 7:30 to 4:30 Monday - Friday. And now that school is out I have all three kids all day. I was getting paid $60 a week but it came out to about .18 cent's an hour so I told her $85 a week flat rate, and if they forget their luch it's an extra $2 and if she picks them up after 4:30 it's an extra $2 an hour. So what do you guys think, to much or not enough?

I started working at a fast food restaurant about a week ago. At the same time I applied for this job, I applied for a lifeguarding job as well, which I was more interested in. After starting the fast food job, the lifguarding job called me and hired me. I would rather have that one, but I have only worked at the fast food restaurant a few days; I haven't even finished my training yet. I really don't want to keep the fast food job, but I feel terrible for quitting so early. What should I do?

I now live in the USA (originally from Yorkshire)...it is a requirement to have a 4 year degree to get into pharmaceutical sales. Just curious about the UK requirements. Back in 1983 when I left school, only a small percentage of people went onto University.

I had an interview a week and a day ago. I thought it went really really well. It was for a lending position which i havent done before but am currently studying for diploma in that field. I havent heard back from the job though. I tried calling yesterday but he wasnt in the office at that time. It is now weekend. I just cant think of a reason that it would take this long if they were going to give me the job. What do you think? Anyone had to wait over a week and got offered a job?
