i'm a cashier so i need to be faster in taking orders. I'm thinking of taking 4 orders at a time and then start presenting their orders, then take the next 4 and do the same thing instead of dealing with customers 1 by 1. Will this strategy help me to get faster?

Talk to a couple other cashiers who have been there awhile, and see if they have any tips, and how they do it. Taking four orders at a time could just end up slowing things up more, creating confusion, and ending up with customer complaints which won't help your job security.

But if some of the items from the first order aren't up when you go to collect them, maybe you can speed things up by taking the next order, then going back and checking if everything from the first order is up, rather than standing there watching for the first order to be complete.

I dont think this strategy will help you in fact it may cause problems when getting the orders correct and to the customers in a timely manner.
By the way the other answer that you received was not that nice.
Just keep doing the best you can and everything will be fine.

Probably nottt... just do it 1 by 1 or 2 by 2. if u do it 4 by 4 then, your customers are going to get upset w/ u because it's taking a long time to get their food.

I would keep it to 2 customers at a time, four would get hectic. And no one likes to wait that long to get their food, you will have upset customers. Work on your customer service skills as well as your speed and you will be great!

What is the policy at McDonalds? Who trained you? What do they recommend?

sounds great, but they should have some sort of training on that, and some set method? no wonder we wait so long for our fries
