yes, dictation and transcription are still used in many places, though not as popular as they once were.

Dictation and Transcriptions will probably never become extinct.

Very common in the Medial field and law.

in the age of technology I think its more common that people use recorders instead of someone sitting doing dictation, its called transcription in this generation.
Maybe in your case you could do transcription on a thing called a word processor and use spell check.

I agree MariJuan. In fact, I plan on using my shorthand skills (Gregg Shorthand...100 WPM) this next week while I'm on Jury Duty.

Doubtful you will be taking for someone else as spelling correct is a prerequisite
