I am currently not using this degree at all being in the construction industry. Is there a job out there where I can apply my degree without being in sales? I love being creative hence the marketing degree. Thank you for all answers given.

One way you could apply your degree is in a graphic design firm. My dad has a degree in marketing and he is the president of a small graphic and web design company. It can fit well with being creative.

Bad advising from advisers hired by universities that make a killing exchanging degrees of little value for increasingly massive tuition payments, and a culture which tends to tell you if you don't go straight from high school to college, even if you've got no idea what you want to be and could really benefit from a year or two of working, volunteering, traveling abroad or some other productive thing that's never going to be as easy to do as it is at 18, that you'll never amount to anything in life. So kids rush in, choose a degree that sounds interesting because they haven't got a clue how they want to contribute to a world they've never truly experienced. I held off on college for a year and a half, volunteered at my old elementary school, got a job so I could go into it with disposable income, best decision I ever made and it got me interested in education. Personally I think some humanities and arts degrees shouldn't be useless because they do create some excellent graduates, but they're treated that way by employers who I think could be missing out on some incredible candidates.

I have my marketing degree as well and yes, there are jobs out there that do not entail Sales. I dislike Sales positions myself, and when I've conducted my job search, I have stayed away from sales positions. You can get into jobs like event planning, graphic design, a marketing coodinator, etc. You just have to be specific when you apply for a job to make sure that you dont have to sell something in order to recieve a paycheck.

Marketing and selling are very different things, so with your degree you should be able to find a job you enjoy that has nothing to do with sales.

Here are some areas to consider:

Special events planning
PR/communications
Brand manager
Web writer
Promotions
Product launches
Research and development

Why not call one of your old professors and ask for advice. They may know people who can help you and probably have even more areas of employment than I can think of.

Good luck!

Roland, Possibly the marketing could be used as well as a Presenter, or as a Teacher-Trainer? Most companies I've worked for over the years had persons in higher or special posititons that were taken in to teach us the marketing "skills" and some used the pre-written programs such as the Steve Brown method and the like.
Best of luck, looks like you have had some thoughtful feedback!

Of course there are many jobs that you could use your degree in.

The best that I can think of (I also work in this field) is the non-profit sector. For instance a Boys & Girls Club especially large ones have need for people with good Marketing skills and degrees. You could say this also about YMCA, Big Bro Big Sis Org, and many many other non-profit organizations.

Check out www.idealist.org it's a website that many non-profits post job positions.

You can be a marketing coordinator/manager/exec with a marketing firm. That wouldn't rely heavily on selling.

dear whether you like it or not you are selling yourself even though you do not like selling. You are marketing yourself. You want to market your self thats why you did courses [Like MBA etc] you marketed yourself to get admission in MBA college.
If you do not like selling then dear sit at home and do not market yourself at any good job or marriage or any thing wherever you can sell yourself.
