I went in today and i was interviewed by the girl who's position i would be taking and also the HR manager for like 1 minute? which I thought was odd. She asked me one question only why I would like to be an office manager? She then said for me to follow up in a few days time and she didnt say that she would be in contact with me but for me to contact them. She also said for me to think about this opportunity and for me to call back in an email I recieved today. What does everyone think about my chances? I am realy confused. Dont they usually call you?

I answered the question by saying to her that I wanted to be an office manager because I am a determined and dedicated worker. I enjoy helping people andalso when I accomplish my tasks well it gives me self satisfaction that people appreciate my work and are happy with me. This also drives me even more to do well.

Every place has a different way of doing things. Go with the flow. If this is how they want it and you think you would enjoy working there, do it their way. This could also be their way of seeing if you are adaptable and able to show initiative at the same time. All the best!

Many organizations experience difficulties in filling particular positions. The position of Office Manager could be one such position--many applicants might have second thoughts about this position because the opportunity to advance might seem obscure. In reality, an Office Manager can become the most indispensable person in a business because of his/her general knowledge about all aspects of the operation. Unfortunately, identifying the opportunity in this position might be more of a long-term proposition than most applicants are willing to consider. As a result, it is possible that this employer has been "stung" several times by candidates who backed out of the position following a job offer.

The HR manager could be testing you. Are you serious enough about the position to follow up on your own? Only your response will answer the question. My assessment could be accurate or I could be "out there" on this one, but the only way you can find out is to take the initiative and call back in a few days. You'll never get the answer if you do not ask the question. Good luck!

This is a test. Are you really interested? Will you follow up on things? Can you follow directions? And of course the obvious...do you really want this job?

Give it a long thought. If you want it call back on Wednesday, an hour AFTER the office opened, maybe ask a question or two about duties or evaluations or goals for the position/office and if you want it say "Ms. HR Manager I am confident that this is an excellent opportunity for both you and I. I would like to join your team."

Every company does it differently. I like this way, at least you are not sitting on the phone waiting for them to call you. I would like to know how you answered her question?

Very interesting. I don't think she would have told you to follow up in a few days if they were not interested. They would have said nothing and never called you. So, taking that into consideration, I would say you have a good chance of being offered the job.
