I walked in to a local coffee shop today. I wanted an application...I disparately need a job. The person in charge of hiring happened to be there, so we set up an interview tomorrow morning. I am required to bring in a resume, which I have, but I'm not sure if I need a cover letter in this situation, as there will be no waiting period between her reading my resume and "following-up".

Should I prepare a cover letter? I need an answer ASAP.

I'm graduating from college with honors and distinction in 2 years' time. My major is Business Administration, Marketing Concentration. I'm painfuly shy, and I prefer working alone in my office or cubicle and not dealing with customers, and also not spend a lot of time on the phone. I'm intelligent, but I need to make some big bucks to pay off this 70K debt. What should I do?

I've learned the hard way that I need to show myself respect and be straight up with employers and interviews. Before an interview I spend hours preparing for it, the least they could do would be spend 5 minutes reading my cover letter and resume. If I walk into an interview and they haven't read my cover letter/resume yet I'm going to say "You haven't read (those) yet? I'm sorry but I spent hours preparing for this, the least you could do was spend 5 minutes; this shows me a lack of respect."

Next are the interviewer where they ONLY ask questions like "Tell me a time when..." I'm going to stop them and say "Well first can I ask, are all the questions going to be like that because I'm not comfortable with those types of interviews. If you don't want to get to know me personally please let me know now so I don't waste my time" (and having to keep BS'ing them).

Now don't assume I don't already know that most interviews are like that and they won't hire me it's about my self respect

Pharmacists are now required to get a doctorate degree (PharmD) to be able to practice pharmacy, unlike the past generations of pharmacists who only had to have a Bachelor's degree.

Do new graduates get paid a little more than the other pharmacists because they have a higher degree? Is there a big difference in pay based on experience/education in pharmacy?

How can I get a job at Disney world. I think I would make a smashing Queen of Hearts. But I can't find a way to contact them. I have tried their web site and can't find anything. SO if anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to apply or a few pointers on how to exactly become a character, I would greatly appreciate.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement?

Explain your reasons.

1. "The supervisor’s primary objective should be to avoid making mistakes in employment decisions that can lead to EEO [Equal Employment Opportunity] complaints."

2. "Organizations should be allowed to hire anyone they choose."

I have a bachelor's degree in marketing with 6 years of experience in the insurance industry doing research and analysis work. I want to go to graduate school for something and settle into a career, but I find so many careers to be boring. I seem to enjoy research and analysis work... I thought about getting a graduate degree in marketing research, but there aren't many marketing research programs. I can't figure out why I find so many careers to be so boring - nothing seems to really excite me.

I left a company I had worked for. I gave them two weeks notice, I had one week vacation time left and my paycheck had been held for the first two weeks when I started. They are now claiming I was overpaid. I am looking at the totals and If I take all of the above into consideration, I can only see a possible one to two weeks of overpayment. they paid me for six weeks. If they did, which I am not yet convinced, am I required to pay back the money. I live in the state of Tennessee in the nashville area.

A month ago I quit a job I had for 11 months because I was being treated poorly by the CEO and the vice president( my work not being noticed, having 7 years experience with this certain job and being extremely underpaid by knowing a co-worker with only 2 years experience was getting paid $4 dollars per hour more, being told I would get a raise after the first of the year and then being told I wouldn't because they didn't have the money to pay me more but 2 days later asked a part time employee if she could work more hours and 2 weeks later another part time employee started full time, I was ingnored by both the CEO and the Vice President when I came in the office or vice versa and when they left they didn't say bye but did to the others in the office) It all added up over the months and I couldn't take another day there being treated like that. I can't tell that to a person who is interviewing me. What is the best way to answer this question without being asked more?

I have been a bank teller for 5 years. Recently, an assistant manager position opened up at my branch and I expressed my interest in moving up to my manager. I was told that a current assistant manager from another branch is going to get the job but that they would like to work with me so I can eventually move up in the company. I am more than qualified for the position.

I am sick of my job and I don't make very much money. If I stay with the company, I'll have the opportunity to move up, but I don't know when, and the pay increase won't be much. If I leave and look for another job, I might not find a good job, or I might find a great job that pays better. I have my associates degree but not a bachelor's.

Any suggestions for what I should do or what field I should look in for another job?

I understand companies preferring less experienced and less expensive hirees. And I understand these firms ae looking to avoid discrimination charges. I just want to find a way to save time for myself and them so we can cut to the chase and find a place that appreciates what I (we) can do.
Forbes Magazine had an interesting piece about the search for older workers with an old-fashioned work ethic. But, in retrospect, it seems as tied to reality as a Reader's Digest article.
Any ideas?

I like my long hair- it's a symbol of my own identity. Why do I prefer it? I like heavy metal, I am a guitar player, and I am a nonconformist.

BUT- I am in a serious relationship with a girl, and she and her Mum think I should cut it, because it would greatly improve my chances of landing a new job.

But if I keep it clean, brushed, and back neatly in a ponytail (which I always do), then what's the big deal?

The truth is that narrow minded people will have a problem with my hair- broad minded people will not. It all depends on the individual employer.

I am a paralegal, in case you are curious about the field of my vocation.

Be honest with your answers, please. Will cutting my hair greatly help my chances for getting that new, well-paying job? Keep in mind that I am well kempt, although, again, narrow minded people may think the opposite from my outer appearance...
