Pharmacists are now required to get a doctorate degree (PharmD) to be able to practice pharmacy, unlike the past generations of pharmacists who only had to have a Bachelor's degree.

Do new graduates get paid a little more than the other pharmacists because they have a higher degree? Is there a big difference in pay based on experience/education in pharmacy?

There is no major difference between the salaries of a PharmD and a B.Pharm. The current increase in pay has to do with the shortage than anything else.
Pharmacy is a profession which salary increases are more tied to experience/seniority than anything else.
