I'm always amazed at how many people are sure that the law guarantees break times here in the U.S.

(See this post for more info http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtJxhbBVWpCcd89xTlk715arxQt.?qid=20070309185153AAFJJa6) So why is it that so many people are sure they know this law? Especially when a person is NOT guaranteed break time. (It's based on whether your employment contract, ie, union employees or are covered by child labor laws).

what is the average starting salary of a college graduate who did not major in a prominent field, ie accounting, in a city like DC? I just went to a staffing agency and my friend believes that the position for which they are sending me for is severly underpaid for someone with a BA. Most of my friends in NYC are making anywhere from $40-50,000 doing basic paralegal work, and I am coming about $16-21,000 short of that.

We work very closley and have to scratch each others back throughout the day but she is very unfair when it comes to leaving early/time off. She will takes days/weeks off at a time with little warning leaving me to run around like crazy. This would all be fine if she didn't get on my case about me leaving 15 minutes early on my Friday with my work all complete...how should I handle this?

I know, i'm 17. Its pretty late in order to making a choice to have an acting career. But i feel i can pull it off, if i dedicate myself. I have no previous acting experience, so it probably would be a bit difficult. I'm leaving high school next year.

I'm a clerk for an architectural firm of 35 people. I've been working there for 6 months now full time. It's nice but my boss isan alcoholic and constantly asks me "What are you doing?" in a low-key voice the second I stop doing something. Or, she'll say this if I'm doing something I haven't told her about which by the way, I don't have to tell her what work I'm doing.
