We work very closley and have to scratch each others back throughout the day but she is very unfair when it comes to leaving early/time off. She will takes days/weeks off at a time with little warning leaving me to run around like crazy. This would all be fine if she didn't get on my case about me leaving 15 minutes early on my Friday with my work all complete...how should I handle this?

Force her hand or you will always be 2nd fiddle. Tell her what is going on. Tell her how you feel and that she would not have it so easy if you moved on and another person came in. New person no alliance would not go for it. OR keep records and start leaking this casually to her bosses. A punk manager, my boss, told all of us in a staff meeting that no mater who you work for or with they don't give a rats butt about you when it comes to surviving at work. He told us other managers to either take control of our areas and fire the dead wood before we got fired for not getting our jobs done. He said if I fired you right now they would forget your name and back stab for your job before you got to the door. They don't care about you or your family and they sure wont pay your bills when I fire you. This was a big change from the military where we watched our fellow airman's back and we practiced integrity. So solve it or find a new place that you can get the recognition you deserve.

Deal with it. You work for her. She is your boss. If you don't like it then find another job. It sucks but that is how life goes. I am sure she has a boss who oversees her and you may wish to talk to her boss but if you do be tactful make sure you have documentation and don't sound like a little cry baby or that you are just trying to get her in trouble. Make sure that you confront your boss before going to her boss and tape record the conversation.

So here are the things with bosses.

She is the boss not you.

You have to answer to her not the other way around.

She may have meetings., appointments, takes her work home etc.

I assure you , you will not win this one.

You have a few choices.

Approach her and deal with the consequences.

Suck it up and do the job you were hired for no questions asked.

Or Quit.

These are things you have power over.

Best of Luck

Two options: Live with it (she is the boss after all) or find another job. Just because you may work closely together, she is the boss and gets a few extra perks with the position. It doesn't help employee moral, but it is true.

Just do the job you were hired to do and cash your paychecks. Dwelling on someone Else's shortcomings will only make your life more miserable. Relax and have a good weekend.

Slip a horse laxative into her coffee. Or glue her Coach Bag with super glue, or coat her vehicle's door handle with the grime from the crack of your posterior.

the boss is the boss. Sounds like it is worth finding a new boss, or at least looking.

Find another job. Trust me. It's only going to get worse. I used to be in the same situation. She's using you.
