I've seen this "question" too many times here.

I think it's a conspiracy to make you tip more.... LOL. Or not go out to eat anymore.

There's a stray cat who begs us for food, & we're not allowed any pets, but I feed it outside. My neighbor said, "Pick that up, she's not gonna eat that!" But he feeds her & sneaks her in his house. & he's bossed me around in other situations, too. & he figures that he can boss me since he's ex-military. Also, he & his guests make loud noise @ 3AM & he blasts his music & plays his horn loud. I think it's a trumpet he blows in the middle of the night, waking me up. He always tries to order me around & tell me what to do.

"Swear" words are taboo in our society today, but is there any real reason? A lot of people substitute "frick" and "fetch" in place of more offensive words such as the f-bomb, but does that really absolve you of any "sin"? The emotion you want to imply is still there, you are just using a different word to express it. What is it about saying one particular word that makes that emotion so wrong, when all other words make it ok? Keeping all of this in mind, should someone who constantly uses 4-letter words really be criticized, assuming that person has been raised to give those words a different meaning than the general public? If you were raised your whole life being taught to say dam instead of shoot, when you make a mistake...is the world allowed to ostracize you for it?

My coworker is nosey and involves herself in ALL of my conversations, whether business related or personal. She is a "know-it-all" and I am constantly being included in her numerous mistakes. I have been in my position for a few years and she just started this year. My manager doesn't give the impression that he is aware of the problem. I want to firmly put her in her place, before I lose my temper and go upside her head.

There is a girl named savannah next to me. Everytime I take out my purse put it in the desk, I might turn and she takes my stuff. So far it's been a total of about 50$ she stole from me. I don't know what to do she has already stole my nailpolish.

Ok, I know I'm a little 9th grader, but their attitudes really annoy me. Like, I have an art class with a few of them, and they're so mean about their classmates. It's driving me insane, but I don't know what to do about it. It's always so quiet in the art room, except these two seniors that are practically screaming about how someone did this, or someone else did that. And if anyone tells me to ignore it, I will definitely NOT pick their answer as the best answer. I've been trying to ignore it. It doesn't work. Every time I hear them I just want to scream my head off and tell them to shut up. What should I do???

A lot of people use the phrase "teacher's pet" to describe others. Some people probably aren't really teacher's pets...
There's an invisible line between being a good student and a teacher's pet. What I'm wondering is:

WHAT IS THE LINE?
How do you know when you've crossed over the line?

Also: I have this one really nice teacher.
I help her with things (like organizing, alphabetizing, etc.), and I'm in her classroom a lot.
I don't suck up to her because of grades (I like to EARN my grades), and I always am telling her I don't want her to think I'm sucking up but that I think she's a really good teacher and I like helping. I feel like I can talk to her about my problems (and I'm generally a quiet person unless I open up to you, which is rare) but I always tell her I'm wasting so much of her time even though she protests and tells me that she enjoys talking to me
Do you think I'm acting like a teacher's pet?

A good friend of mine is going through a difficult period; many in his family and of his friends has had to return to Mexico the past week. Naturally, his family is in distress.

Because today is La Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), I was considering crafting a gift in honor of their family. My questions:

1. Is this proper practice?
2. If so, what should I consider making?

I know many of the common things associated with it, but I'd like another opinion for some guidance.

Thank you very much

I have a female friend that i have feelings for. I have texted her in the past. Her boyfriend found out and has started checking her phone. My friend sees this as a problem but ignores it. I'm left feeling like i'm in the wrong for texting in the first place. The texts are always innocent. Anyhting more personal i tell her in person.
Her boyfriend is suspicious and clearly jealous.
Does that make checking her phone right?
I have my opinion. I'd like to hear other peoples.

This person is always volunteering information that I don't care to hear about and it annoys me to no end. I try to be polite and listen, but several times (in a single day) I really just want to tell that person to shove it and get out of my face. I want to let them know that it's not in my job description to listen to all their personal woahs and sob stories. Wow!

I just had to get that out. So, yeah - anybody deal with that?

Hi,

I have a new co worker whom I am going to train. I cant describe how yuckie she is.
1) She stinks like hell.(Why people dont use deoderants?)
2) She makes bubbles from her mouth(Not with bubblegum) and cracks those bubbles which makes such annoying noises. Can you think how unpleasant it is to see an adult doing such things?
3) She yawns loudly in meetings and her mouth stinks so bad you can smell her across the table.
4) She never combs her hair and her hair is full of dandruff.
Now my problem is when I am training her she literally sits on my lap and touches my shoulder every minute. I hate it.
How can I tell her about her such behavior.
I am going to throw up in front of her anytime....
Please help

my family is catholic, my cousin married a jewish lady, has 2 kids, Their both Jewish, its theire relegion.
Its been a tradition that me, mom and sis go to my Aunts house for christmas every year, buy and recieve presents from her, her husband, two wives and my two cousins.
Why should i buy presents for kids who are Jewish and dont beleive in Jesus? it seems fake.
Also my cousins wife always acts like she doesnt want to be there, she always makes faces and tries to pick a fight with me. last christmas she yelled out to me, who do u think u are, dressed up? My other cousin is distant and just hides with hise wife, whispering to his wife,,then he starts bombadring me with personal questions like hes a judge, and im lying
Im 23 now and questioning all this, also i never see or hear from these people besides christmas.
Isnt it wrong to buy jewish people x-mas presents? why are they celebrating christmas with us.?
i think me, my mom and sis should end this tradition and do our own christma

He is new to the company and I have never met any of them. It will not be a big party it will be at his employers home. The problem is I am a stay at home mom, (I don't have a lot to talk about other than the children) I have gained a few pounds. I don't feel like my best at this time. However, I do want to make a good impression. I don't want to embarrass my husband in any kind of way.... Does anyone have any pointers or suggestions or good pep talks??? Thanks in advance.

I find a secretary of ours very questionable in the way she dresses. She is a shorter woman, so clothes should be a little bigger on her than usual, especially skirts. Not in this case, I would fear bending over if I had worn skirts as short as she does in our office. Another thing in question are her shirts and how low cut they are. She does not have boobs to begin with to show off so you could probably see her nipples had she not worn a bra. Our company does address their policies on dress in their policy book, but I guess do not enforce them well. Is there a way to bring this up to an office manager that does not make you look bad and just uncomfortable with it?

I have noticed a lot of white Americans keep their personal stuff (like backpacks or computer) in a public place like restaurant, cafe or bench on the sidewalk & then when they want to go to another place for a small work, they just leave their personal stuff in that place without any fear or informing someone to look ater their stuff. I've noticed even Europeans (like Germans, British & Scandinavian people) do the same.

However when I did the same in a cafe run by Chinese people (here in the US, of course), then when I returned back the waiter screamed at me and blamed me for being very careless person to leave my stuff there!!!

I mean I have always been very careful with my stuff & carry them with me at all times, only after seeing my American friends do that way - that I thought it wouldn't be a problem for me to do the same.

In this case, who are correct - the Chinese or the white people?

Does anyone have a really funny story about bad manners?

2007-11-01 06:25:18 · 6 answers · asked by Stacers 1

I know this sounds immature, but what is something that totally STINKS that is not harmful that I can carry in my pocket or purse? Don't say $#!T or something like that. I am tired of this one woman puffing away when it's just a few of us standing around, and I want to make the point by doing something stinky right back at her when she blows her smoke at us.

May not work, I know, but wondering if anyone has ideas. We have tried asking her nicely to move or whatever and we've tried moving but she is fierce about her rights to smoke and if we move she follows us. We are on public property outside so we really have no rights to tell her to stop.

So folks, what stinks????

These events don't take place very often and when they do i am not paid for attending, so why should i incur a cost to attend? Assuming that i have a tuxedo is comparable to assuming that i have a full set of female clothing just in case i have to attend a drag contest at some point in my life. It may happen but would not happen often enough for me to warrant spending out large sums on female clothing.
