My boss lost someone very close to her in death, is there anything I can give her other than money? Like a gift or something? I am going to give her some cash as well to help with her expenses, but is there any appropriate gift for that?

i found out about a week ago, that her and this guy have been going out for 2 months, during the last 2 weeks she and i had good conversations, she would pass by me alot, want my attention and even check out who i was talking to(if it was a girl). Her boyfriend told me that they don't make their relationship public to people in the gym,but during this time, why would she even act like this towards me if she had a boyfriend?Today i just ignored her because i don't need any of that drama, and she also ignored me.

I'm helping my sister with the invitations to my houswarming party that is nov. 10th..... and i need some help wording the invitations. if you know of something we can say in the invitation or know of a good web site it will help us big time. oh yeah i really would love to get gift card and for it to be a come and go kind of thing because we are invinting my husbands fam. and mine, so theres like over 50 something people that want to come see our new house and not enough room for parking or places to sit. it would be great if they could come grab a snack give them a look at the house and on there way they go. but if that shounds rude and inposible to put in an invitation that anything will do. thanks so much

If you get a gift that you really don't want - it's a clothing style you don't wear, it's a book in a genre you don't read, it's a piece of art that doesn't match your style, it's something you already have plenty of and don't need more of, etc. and there's every indication that the gift-giver is going to keep giving you this stuff every year, how do you politely steer them in a better direction? Or do you just accept that Christmas gifts aren't going to make you happy beyond the touchy-feely "they wanted me to have this" part?

I'm not talking about things like clothes that don't fit - I mean things that you just don't want.

I know some people would just suck it up and sell the stuff on Ebay. But for those people who are not computer-oriented - what should they do?

I normally don't send cards out to people during the holidays, but this year I decided to do so. I also wrote a form letter to go with the greeting card. The card itself will be personalized with my Holiday wishes but there is also the letter that I typed up to go with it, with this year's new and happenings. I've gotten them in the past and I don't mind them, but some people think of them as insensitive and unsociable. What do you think and why? I'm just curious about your opinions and there isn't a right or wrong answer.

She is driving me nuts. She stops me whenever she sees me out playing with my youngest son, doing yardwork,etc...and tells me all about her new 'things'--car,carpeting,front door, windows, sofa, etc. The list goes on and on.I am a struggling single mom who can't afford anything new,and she knows that. The most irritating thing of all is that she is a 'born again' Christian who wants me to go to her church.I thought she was not supposed to be materialistic if she had 'been saved'.The last time she told me about her new stuff,I said simply,"Congratulations...now I have to go visit my sick dad in the hospital."...and walked away. She did not get the hint, however, and continues her SH!T!!

I hear a lot of parents and kids complaining about having to wear uniforms to school, saying it's their right to wear whatever they want to school etc etc.

I spend most of my school yrs wearing uniforms and I never though it violated my rights :)

So why make a big deal about it?

Should be made to walk or bus to school? It took me 45 mins to do a 10 min journey this morning all because I have to go past a school. I would catch a bus but I have to carry tools. I was late for work and so I lost money. I think that some parents are dead selfish. and should loose there licences for making unessasary journeys. Greenpeace have been trying to stop this for years because of polution but they still keep up there selfish ways. I say let us blockade the schools and keep these planet destroyers out

It is where the people drop in during the shower time specified on the invitation, enjoy the snacks, bring the gift and visit with the mother to be and other visitors without having to play the games some people don't care to play anyway. It makes sense but when invited, some have never heard of it.

My neighbor sleeps with a loaded pistol. My 10yo son is friends with his kids. They are always running in and out of both of our houses. I just found out our neighbor, D, sleeps with a loaded pistol. I assume it's loaded because what good would a pistol be without bullets? D is a very good neighbor and I don't want him to feel embarrassed when I talk to him about it. I cannot allow my child to go to a house that keeps loaded weapons, let alone unsecured weapons.

How do I approach him in a neighborly way?

And for you Mother Bears out there, yes, I know it's my right to talk to him and it's my child's safety in question but I do NOT want this one issue to affect our good relationship. Their son is one of my son's best friends. We live in very close proximity to them (across the street).

At my place of work, they have 3 part time workers (including me) and one full time worker- to divide 5 days amongst. Only one person works at a time. I think they chose to hire 3 PT people so they wouldn't have to provide FT benefits.

I know that as it is now, they don't have enough time for me to work more hours than I already have. However, I'd like to tell them that I am available for FT if they ever need me. I don't think they'd ever come to this conclusion themselves though, since if they don't want to give benefits, they'd just hire a new PT person. I don't need the benefits though, because my husband's job provides them. The people I work under are not managers- they own the facility. Therefore, I don't want to offend them by implying that they're cheap.

How can I tell them I don't need benefits without them thinking I'm assuming they're greedy? Also, what if I'm wrong and this isn't why they've chosen this route in the first place?

Can a fart be lethal? Maybe if the methane content was too high or something. What if i farted under the covers over and over and the fart smell just kept building up and then my boyfriend smelled it. Would he pass out?

I know I have had this one a few times and I find it very offensive.

You could be looking for something and finding it very difficult, you know that you have tried your best to locate the object and you fail.
You ask for assistance and he response is...

"Open your eyes and then you may find it" or "Have you actually tried looking?"
and if they find it, they will tell me...
"Are you blind?! It has been here all the time".

Why do you think people respond this way?

You know when you've been insulted with a smile? You know you've been insulted, they know you've been insulted but it's been done in such a way that if you pull them up on it they can just deny it outright and say they didn't mean it like that which then just makes you look paranoid and childish.
