I want them to learn their lessons and see their mistakes...

You can't make them "learn their lessons and see their mistakes" any more than anyone else can make you learn your lessons. They will have to figure things out for themselves.

You could try to tell your cousin, but it would be wiser to keep silent. People of any age have to learn by their mistakes, especially in matters of the heart. Btw...although it's a strange practice, it isn't illegal, per se, in most US states, to actually date your second cousin, or even cousins further removed.

One of the hardest lessons in life, is knowing that you can't influence other people and "make them see their mistakes". They may have an entirely different viewpoint on their situation, and who is to say that you are right and they are not ? I'd suggest that you allow them to live their lives, and you live yours. If they've made a mistake, they will figure it out for themselves.

You don't have much to work with. Unless it's illegal you're not going to make much of a dent.

I have two cousins that are married, and last I heard they were happy together, so who knows.

Ew! I know you want to help. But the more you tell her it is wrong, the more she will go to him. Just try and expose her to the rest of the world and let her know that there is a whole world out there and there are other options that she should take advantage of.

it is now not illegal in most states for first cousins and cousins to marry, and it has been proven that cousins do not have any more birth defects in their child than non related couples.

Depending on the state, first cousins can marry. I think you might be jealous.

All you can do is not go to the wedding, if there is one.

Don't cousins risk birth defects if they have kids?

Jealousy is such an unattractive trait.
