Since my wife has kids with husband one, we have a lot of family gatherings where we are all together. Her ex and I don't have a problem with each other, but I feel disrespectful call his mom by her first name when everyone else is calling her mom, and I feel like a little kid when I call her Mrs. Whatever.

What would you recommend?

Someone on another question insinuated 'oh my god' is swearing. I don't believe in God, and this is just an expression for me. I thought this was the 21st century.

I'm staying with a very privileged family in a few days' time. As nice as they are, mealtimes are always very formal (full silverware, waiter, fruit to be peeled and eaten with knife and fork only, no hands allowed!) I'm by no means deprived of social graces but always feel rather awkward. Far too much potential for sending peas flying across the table! Any suggestions???

prevalent in India. I see Indian people doing it in the UK all the time and it is really disgusting.

Do not say this is a racist question as one of your own people asked the same question on Yahoo Answers but he went so far as to say that Indian people also litter and p*** on the ground!

My mother, who grew up in Selma, Alabama, told me that in her society it was considered rude to praise the hostess for the food served at dinner, on the grounds that that implied that she was too poor to afford a kitchen staff. (My mother grew up during the Depression).

Could this be true?

When someone at a grocery store is putting out meat and customers get in front of them and start grabbing or grab off the meat rack that they carry the meat on.some people have no manners and no patience.

Scenario: Woman throws herself a birthday party, her partner has a band, the band performs at the party. Is it rude for the band to put out a tip jar? They are a working band and have paying gigs every week and they use the tip jar.

This was a small party for friends and family. Tipping didn't seem appropriate.

Everytime I see this, I simply want to hurl: Answerers whose source is something like "Proud wife of a U.S. (insert armed force)," etc.

Pride in one's spouse is one thing, but come on!

1. That block is to credit the source of one's answer...the site you researched if you surfed the net, the book you read if applicable, etc.
2. It's irrelevant to all the answers I've seen where people do this.
3. It's 2007: Have your own identity and your own credibility. Answer the question, cite it if necessary and go on with life.

Proud man who has achieved things besides marrying a member of the armed forces (although I've done that too).

Here in the South, we pride ourselves on good manners and a proper upbringing. We try to teach our children how to properly behave toward others. Slowly, these cherished values are eroding. What is causing this? What do you think?

Why haven't he or any of his lawyers ever mentioned in their public comments that they apologize for the 6 years of abusing dogs? They never talk about all the terror and abuse inflicted on these domestic animals. Do you people find that horrid and reflects additional lack of sensitivity about this subject?

There is a guy that lives across the road.

We live in an appartment complex and we have our own car parking spaces, this man across the road takes it upon himself to park in our car park and he does not live in the complex.

There are people who live in the apartment that have their own cars and are being deprived because of this selfish twit.

What should I do?

I got blamed for stuff that never happened. Like for example, I usually go JOG at the park everyday where there is alot of OLD PEOPLE who talks a whole load TRASH, who snitches, and who adds additional stuff to anything they see.

Sometimes I come across my old homeboys and we say "hi' to each other. Talk for a little bit and then we go our own way.

Now rumors all going around that I go to the park FCUK around with MARRIED MENS everyday.

I am really embarrassed. I really don't know what to do. I don't even want to go out any where anymore. I don't even want to show my face anywhere anymore.

Help me.

Please don't have a hernia about this. It's true. Even the best joke was taken as an insult or understood critically. Thus brought me to the realization that Indians do NOT have a funny bone. WHY?

The sound of people kissing is the most annoying sound ever. I want to tell people: "I'm happy you're in love or lust or what ever, but why do you need to rub it in my face?"

Do public displays of affection annoy you too?

In the gym last week I was getting ready to leave and this older guy, maybe 40 or 45 commented on how I made pullups look so easy. I said to him " Well I am sure when you were my age they were easy for you to" Is that rude to say to him, or not? Im just curious so next time I see him I can apologize if it was.

I've never been much of a talker. I feel awkward when I do. Sometimes it feels hard to form kinships with people because I haven't got a lot to say. I guess I could try to stay away from them but certain situations can't be avoided.
Thanks for anybody who answers seriously and genuinely.

I am quitting my job, because I was offered a job closer to home, better pay, and better hours. The current job I am with I have only been there for 6 days! I know what bad timing!! I wrote a formal letter of resignation giving my two weeks and plan to give it to my supervisor face to face tomorrow after my shift. If he asks why I am leaving, do I tell him my three reasons or not say anything at all? Help!! I have never quit a job before, especially on such short time, being there.

Because I think racism is stupid. My grandmother hates black people and she told me one day. And I told her that there is not difference between us, we are all human beings....and now they wont allow me in their house...

Should I have kept my mouth shut?
Or was it good to stand up for what I believe???
