OMG! That does sound racist to me, but even if she didn't mean it in that way, that was very unprofessional of her to say as a teacher and she needs to understand and respect the fact that it was a mistake. If it really bothers you, I suggest you talk to some about it, like the principal or a counselor.

I can't believe your teacher would say that!! Are you sure you heard correctly? It may be a racsist comment, or it may be she was refferring to young guys in general, or maybe the "group" you hang out with. Or maybe even just men. Who knows? Racsist or not though, it's definitiley an inappropriate comment coming from a teacher. If I were you, I would report it immediately or at least takl to the teacher about it. Tell her you honestly made a mistake (I mean just read the context of the sentence to know that the word was misplaced), and that her comment was incredibly rude and inappropriate. See what she says. She might be unfair to you for the rest of the year though, so it may be in your best interest to report her and ask for a class transfer.

This is unprofessional comments that don't need to be spoken especially from a teacher. First of all I would tell your mom. (You know mothers can act like a bat out of h e double hockey sticks)- Have her talk with your principal, or go to the board of education. This is wrong and is racist, especially the words of "YOU PEOPLE", which she could be meaning young kids? I don't know? Many things can be left opened for interpretation. She the teacher opened the door so now she has to live with her choice words and actions.

Could the type be 18-22 yr olds? Could it be men in general? (pobably not) Are you thuggish?
Do hispanics often rape asians?
Either way, it was definitely an unappropriate comment and may ward some type of apology if you feel that strongly about it. Just remember to try and leave the race card down.

No it is not racism. Racism, properly defined means a belief in the genetic superiority of one race over others (the NAZI idea) or it could mean to mock or belittle the physical characteristics of other races. You experienced plain rudeness. A teacher should show more consideration for their pupils' feelings. If you want an "ism", "culturalism" might be appropriate.

She's either a racist, a sexist, or an ageist, take your pick. You simply misspelled a word, and she assumed it's because you belong to what she thinks is a mentally degenerate type of people (either Latinos, teenage boys, or males in general).

That's racism. I'm asian and I'm shocked that she would say that.

You need to confront her and ask her what she meant. Try to have another student there with/near enough to hear her response to you.

If she denies it, tell her you heard it, you don't appreciate it and the next time she does that, you will report her.

no thats not racism. hispanics do always have 1 thing on their minds. and we know what that is. don't we? i had hispanic friends. look at marc anthony. look at Ricky Martin. all these hispanic dudes and their songs. all i hear is corazon and stuff.

c'mon now, we all know hispanic guys think about sex all the time and beat up their girlfriend. white guys have secret gay lives and think about f#cking over minorities. black guys treat their women like trash and aspire to be criminals. so what? who cares?

What type of people was she talking about? Men? Young men? Hispanic men? American men? We don't really know. I wouldn't be too quick to call it a racist remark, however it definitely was a prejudice remark (there is a difference) and in her position was inappropriate.

I think that the phrase "you people..." is pretty much always racist or prejudice. its just not cool to lable a certain group of people as such. every group of people has its good people and bad people and its not fair for anyone to assume that someone is a certain way based on one physical aspect of their being.
