Not grammar or word usage - but style and flow and technique. I used to think I had talent for it - but lately I am reading some well written emails from customers these days and feeling I am slipping.

The other day was my second day of college. There was a big mess up in classrooms and therefore a group of students including me missed a class and sat in on another math class. Eventually later in the day we found our prof. and got our sylibus. I must have accidently picked up the professor's book while I was at her desk (they look identical). I came home and saw that I had a teachers edition book in my bag. I emailed her right away and asked if she was missing her book. Turns out she emailed my yahoo account (weird!) earlier..and before I checked that email I emailed her with my school account. I explained the situation and apologized and went in today to drop off her book to her assistant. When I went the assistant was like oh so you were the one who stole the book. I feel horrible..I didn't steal the book..I already have one! What should I say to the prof? I have class tomorrow

I just got back into contact with a friend that I haven't spoken with in years. We're emailing back and forth and in a recent email from him he ended his email by saying "3's and 6's". What is that supposed to mean. I don't want to ask him because I don't want to look like an idiot, but I really have no idea. Thanks for any help.

These 2 guys are at it. One guy has been a sort of friend of mine for years (Ben). I work closely with the other guy (Jack).
Very long story short-- Jack is really a smart *** but funny guy.
Ben is a quiet keep to himself type.
Jack has been picking on Ben now for about a year. Picking on him in a kinda funny way. Ben has had enough of it. He is going to our H.R. dept tomorrow and request a meeting with our h.r. leader, our supervisor, and Jack. I know almost for certian that if Ben tells what Jack has been saying that Jack will be fired. Stupid (sexual) jokes is what it is.
I have a feeling that I will be called in there to either credit or discredit one or the other.... I don't want anything to do with this crap! It's childish! Someone please tell me what I can say IF they call me to h.r... How do I tell my boss that I prefer to not be a part of this? Or can I even do that? I don't want to choose sides at all. If I tell the truth it will surely get 1 of them fired.

In dining out with family, how do you split the tab if some members of the family have their significant others join the meal?

Is it fair to count the couples as 2 separate persons, or is it just being petty? Can it be considered unfair to the non couples members to cough up more than their share, especially if everybody has decent jobs. Obviously, children are exempt from this.

I am in 8th grade, and I have physical education for this semester. Unfortunately, my coach is a male coach. Not to be sexist or anything, though. Well, my coach acts strangely around me. He gets one inch away from my face just to talk to me. The strange thing, though, happened today. My class was playing kickball, and the coach said anyone who didn't want to play, could sit on the bleachers. I wanted to play, but, I had forgotten the rules of the game, so, I decided to sit and watch how the other kids played. When I sat down, the coach came and sat right by me. He began talking to me, and told me to smile more. That when I don't smile, he goes home and cries. I know it sounds like a joke, but I think that sometimes a joke cant go a bit farther than needed. After that, he told me to go onto the field to play, and he tapped my knee. I had my gym shorts on, so he touched my bare skin. I just got up and walked away, and thought about it. What do you think? No rude answers, please. ^-^

I was invited by one of my friends to celebrate her sisters Quinceañera, I know very little about Puerto Rican culture and this perticular celebration. I am trying to figure out if I should bring a gift or not and if there are any other things that I should do. Her invitation doesn't specify anything that I (a very American girl) should do! Please help so I don't show up looking like an idiot.

just started a new job, and this guy that works with me, works in another room, and when he passes by , he always looks in the room,(but I guess that might not really mean anything) and everytime he passes by he always come in and chit chats, and he'll ask me what I'm doing(even though there are two people in the room) and he'll sit in my desk, and look at my computer, and ask ME stuff about politics, and news..I mean it's very casual but he always asks me if I went to lunch yet, and today, me and another co -worker sit in the same room and while they were talking I started doing my own thing typing my other friend on the computer, and he stood behind me and kept hitting my chair...and I'm thinking why does he keep doing that, and then he asks me if I know of a good church, because he hasnt been to one...'s been herein the city for almost eight years ...I'm confused as to why he's playing dumb and being nosey.. Well anyhow what do you think

My elderly neighbor talks to the mail man every afternoon while he puts mail in our box. She then informs everyone when they have mail, and if it looks important. It's harmless, but it is annoying. I'd like to teach her a little lesson about "minding your own business".

I'm thinking of sending myself mail, but coming up with creative "From" businesses, like "Bondage International. Membership Application Enclosed"(and use a pair of cuffs as a logo), or Fertility Sperm Bank Donation Request. We don't get much mail delivered to that box since we have a PO box in the main office, but every once in a while, something comes through that she feels she needs to tell me about. Maybe this will break her habit.

I'm in need of more ideas because I plan on doing this for at least a month or two. I figure if she has nothing better to do than glance at my mail, I'd give her something to look at.

Any Suggestions???

He acted like he did nothing wrong. He thinks I was mean to call him an idiot. What would you do if your friend gave out your personal information to someone you did not know or like?

Why is it that when I take a message for a person who isn't in the office, the caller doesn't say "Thank you"? What happens is that after taking the message, I'll say "Ok, I'll let him know." Then there's silence, as if I'M supposed to say thanks. What the F***? And if I do say thanks, they'll say "Uh huh" like they deserved it. But I did THEM a service. What's up with these a$$holes? BTW, I'm not the receptionist here, not that it matters.

our school dropped one of the 2 required grade 12 math courses this year. however, our class(entering g12) needed to know the information from this dropped course in order to start the 2nd course.

to help us, our grade 12 mathematics teacher did the kind favor of writing a 200-page booklet for us to look over during the SUmmer that went through all the main points we missed in the 1st course.

this way, we could enter the 2nd course with all the info we needed, even though we hadn't taken the first course.

I think this was a thoughtful thing to do and want to thank her, especially since this booklet must have taken weeks to write. nobody else (that i know of) has thanked her yet.

however, i don't want to sound like i'm thanking her only to get on her good side (like a brown-noser).

how can i do this?

I know where I was when this happened, as I'm sure you do to.

If the truth be know, I did not cry on the day, I was too shocked.

But I sometimes hear chat shows on the radio about this whilst driving and need to pull over and cry.

The same happens to me when troop deaths happen in our wars now.

I'm a hard man, with time served in the Army, Prison, and marriage, but this sad senseless lose of life just chokes me.

So, back to the question.

The falling man.

Was this a choice, or were they pushed.

If you were the guy/girl behind them, being burned alive and needing air, would you have pushed the man infront?

I would.

While the question is a simple one, actually the real question is to find a way to do so without hurting another person's feelings, or make them think that the TV program I'm watching is more important than they are or what they have to say?

I would like to be able to find a way to come across that the TV program doesn't matter that much to me, but at the same time trying to improve their terrible timing.

Is there something that I could do subliminally? Is there a way I can get rid of them without hurting their feelings? On the phone, it's easy enough, as all I have to say is that I have someone on the other line. But that's not a lie I can get away with when we are in the same room.

What can I do? I'm going nuts with frustration and I'm sick and tired of missing usually the climatic parts of a tv program or movie.

This woman I work with is exceptionally nasty. We used to be friends, then had a disagreement and now she throws her nose up in the air at me and won't even acknowledge my existence. She pretends that she doesn't even know me - I think it's freakin' immature and HILARIOUS as all get out!!! I crack up every time she does it.

Anyway, I've had some things thrown on my desk today that I would normally handle to help out my (any of my) co-workers, but I don't think I'll bother with helping her. Would you???

Yesterday a woman got right on my tail (& I don’t drive slow!) barely avoided hitting me, went around, cut the car off that was coming up on right lane & sped along her way. Last Fri.garbage men didn’t pickup garbage tho’ everything is paid, garbage out on time, etc. I called & no one gave a crap. T’other day, there was a stalled train on way to work (but I was actually not going to be stuck because I was to make a left turn in another direction). After signaling, I tried to get into the left lane which a little further (2yards away) would have taken me into the turning lane BUT this woman SPED up & blocked me (car behind her let me in). Anyway because she did, I had to spend 15 minutes stuck behind her while a few feet away I could have turned. Many more examples! It just seems that every1 is such a jerk & I’m surprised when some1 does something right, rather than when they don’t. Am I the only one who feels this way? Why are people like this? What can I do to stop getting so angry?
