That was part of summer when I was little!!! Even though that ice cream wasn't very good, I still loved hearing it and rushing out to meet it. I think it adds fun to every summer, and is a summer tradition. Also, it can teach young kids how to manage their money and about will power (no ice cream before dinner!) The ice cream truck should continue!!

I like an ice cream truck....as long as they have the goods! I doubt they will ever go away completely, but since every gas station has ice cream these days, those trucks do loose some $$$......It does not taste the same when it is not from a truck at the end of your driveway!!

May depend on where you live. There are several in my town. In fact someone just started a new ice cream service with a chrome truck painted with flames. It's awesome looking. When that trucks pulls through a neighborhood even the adults are outside to look and buy ice cream.
It's all in the marketing!

I think that it is harder for ice cream trucks to survive today. So many families have their children in day care that neighborhoods are desserted.
My vote would be for them to continue if possible because there is nothing as exciting for a child as being able to pick out their own special treat on a beautiful summer day.

it makes me sad when the weekends come and go and my children never get to experience the sounds of the ice cream truck!! that was the best when i was younger... we would hear him coming a block or two away... go darting into the house begging for money and running back out hoping we didn't miss the truck.... if only for the 15 minutes the whole thing lasts, it was the best 15 minutes of the day!! bring back the ice cream truck!!!

I think they should stay. A lot of families in the cities don't have cars and wouldn't be easy to get ice-cream home so it would be nice to have the ice cream brought to your house.

We have an ice cream truck that stops by work almost every day and it's something small for us to look forward to. We all enjoy our little afternoon snack/sugar rush.

dear god they aren't here in delaware. we have lots of them
we had a stand off on my street a few weeks ago bcse 2 came head on at eachother and neither wanted to back up a lil and let the other one go by
also the county parks have bid contracts that allow only 1 vendor in the parks- nobody else allowed to sell ice cream if you didn't win the bid.
