This woman I work with is exceptionally nasty. We used to be friends, then had a disagreement and now she throws her nose up in the air at me and won't even acknowledge my existence. She pretends that she doesn't even know me - I think it's freakin' immature and HILARIOUS as all get out!!! I crack up every time she does it.

Anyway, I've had some things thrown on my desk today that I would normally handle to help out my (any of my) co-workers, but I don't think I'll bother with helping her. Would you???

I think the biggest question is, if you help her who benefits the most? Do you benefit because higher-ups see that you stepped up to the plate by going above and beyond?

If so, then by all means get it done.

If not, then I wouldn't go out of my way to help her unless I was done with absolutely everything I had to do and then it would be without much oomph.

To be honest, it's what makes you the better person if you help her. In my experience, everyone pretty much only helps the people they like. But imagine how much easier life would be for everyone if people just helped when they could, regardless of their like/dislike for particular people. Im with you that that kind of attitude and behavior is uncalled for and totally unprofessional, but in the end by helping her your the bigger and better person.

Yes, I would help her if only to make myself look good in the eyes of my co-workers and superiors.

Can you bring it back to her and tell her that you don't have time to help her with it? Maybe another day.

I think you really got to her, otherwise she'd be totally indifferent.
Being kind to someone who has been unkind to you......they say its like heaping coals of fire on their head.....so, ya, I would!
