I know where I was when this happened, as I'm sure you do to.
If the truth be know, I did not cry on the day, I was too shocked.
But I sometimes hear chat shows on the radio about this whilst driving and need to pull over and cry.
The same happens to me when troop deaths happen in our wars now.
I'm a hard man, with time served in the Army, Prison, and marriage, but this sad senseless lose of life just chokes me.
So, back to the question.
The falling man.
Was this a choice, or were they pushed.
If you were the guy/girl behind them, being burned alive and needing air, would you have pushed the man infront?
I would.

It was a terrible situation,he wasn't the only one that fell, it was sheer desperation to get away from the inferno. no one will ever know what those people suffered in their last moments, but from some phone calls that were made, incredible courage and bravery were displayed by those victims.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Well that is very honest of you to say that. In fact very candid of you for all you have said. Even a hard man has emotions and I am glad that things affect you in this way, it shows you are able to deal with your emotions. Who knows what one would have done in such a dire situation, I would like to think I would not have pushed someone out of a window, I rather think I might have jumped myself, rather than waiting for the flames to slowly consume me, but I just don't know. Maybe you have a more highly tuned sense of survival, having served in the army and with a prison sentence behind you, after all, you know that at the end of the day you only have yourself to rely on. I don't know what I would have done, I like to think I would be praying, but I cannot say for sure.

i dont know why some people are saying get out more for such a realistic question? yes i think i would push the person in front if i was going to get burnt to death, was shocked at all those people piled up hanging out the windows of the building just makes you wonder did they lose their balance? were they pushed? or did they decide to jump to their death? so hope i never get to that situation in the last minutes of my life.

I like to think he jumped of his own free will, like he saw no way out of the towering inferno so he took a chance and plunged. I never really considered the possibility that someone else pushed him out, but I certainly hope that's not what happened. I actually saw it happen on TV that day, and it was from far away, of course, but it appeared that he jumped out on his own.

The powerful and controversial photograph provoked feelings of anger, particularly in the United States, in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The photo ran only once in many American newspapers because they received critical and angry letters from readers who felt the photo was exploitative, voyeuristic, and disrespectful of the dead. This led to the media's self-censorship of the photograph, preferring instead to print photos of acts of heroism and sacrifice.
Get a life and show some sympathy, "Prat".

Don't honestly know. Really tough question. I'd like to say no but I am sure if you were in that situation your instinct for survival would take over and you would push. Interesting.

you are joshing us ? in poor taste, but you have to be, right ?
I had a friend who perished on 9/11 in the Windows on the World restaurant in WTC. She did not jump or was she pushed. I find your question cruel and offensive. You are one sick person. You dishonored her memory, shame on you.
You should join the Jack Kevorkian corps and the euthanasia movement, they NEED people(?) like you...
