Venue is charging a 20% service fee on all food, beverage, and the fixed site fee. I thought it should only apply to cost of food and beverage, and the site fee should not have gratuity applied...

We just bought a house and I smoke occasionally outside in the backyard. My neighbor last night, who has never introduced themselves or even spoke to me, leaned over our ajoining fence and asked me to stop smoking in my backyard. He stated that since we had moved in, they have had to run their air conditioning and can't put their windows up because their home smells like smoke. Is this something that others can agree with? Note, I bought the house. For $900k!!! And I can't even smoke in my backyard? Does anyone think that my neighbor is justifiable in asking me this????

...or "dear" or "love"? I've been trying to figure out what makes the difference between the instances that it bothers me and those when it does not, and I really can't put my finger on the difference between being patronizing/ sexist and just being nice in an old-fashioned way. I know the difference when I experience it, though! Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

In a society of teenagers and slang-talking yappers, I don't know what's acceptable any more. Do people look at you like you've got five heads if you order a pot of tea on a hot day in a café? Do they just sell it for those "uncool" people who "need to avail of the life"?

I love sushi. There happens to be a great sushi place close to work. They deliver, so I order almost eveyday to eat during lunch time.

There's this coworker who I don't even talk to because she's such a bitter person.
I was eating my sushi when suddenly told me I was so disgusting for eating that. I didn't didn't paid attention to her.
Every time I ordered sushi she kept telling me I better not keep doing that or else.
I kept ordering sushi, and this other day she saw my sushi, and started to act as though she was going to throw up, and left to the bathroom because she needed to throw up.

She already went to my boss to tell her to make me stop eating sushi. So far, my boss hasn't told mne anything about it.

But I can't even enjoy my sushi in peace. If anything, she disgusst me when I se eher because she reminds me of the time she almost threw up in front of me.

She's such terrible person. What should I do?

She's moving to the East Coast to go to school out there for a year. I'm friends with her mom and don't really know anything about her or what she likes. Is it proper to take a gift or is the party simply to say, "good luck"??

If a gift is in line, what is ideal for her?

I have a personal story to tell. My uncle was sent to Catholic school when he was in the 8th grade; this is I think back in 1966. He wasn't a bad kid but he was pretty big and didn't take crap from anyone. He was caught talking in class while the teacher, who was a nun, was teaching and she made him hold out his knuckles so she can hit him on it with a ruler. After she hit him on his knuckles once, he kicked her under her knee. When she fell forward he then punched her across the face and she fell over hitting her head on another student's desk. Somebody heard the commotion and he was dragged out by i think 3 priests out of the classroom as though he was violent, crazy person.

When his parents were notified they were more upset at him instead of him being punished by the nun. The police were even called and he was charged with assault.

Why was it seen as acceptable for schools to physically punish the students, especially in Catholic education?

They are so busy looking after their own careers,
,that they would rather sell this country down the drain' just for votes..
They are not in touch with the ordinary man in the street, never worked on the shop floor,,
but come from the best schools, homes and have the same circle of friends who are oblivious to what is happening

I was invited to a party at a nightclub for Saturday and on the invitation it said:

To be placed on the guestlist please submit:

FULL NAME
EMAIL ADDRESS
PHONE NUMBER
A RECENT PHOTO

Since when do guestlists require a recent photo? I get that this party is a big deal, but nightclubs hosts "big deal" parties all the time! I never had to submit a photo before AND they invited ME...Is that even right? What do you think?

ok - so i'd love to hear your thoughts - it's a novelty gift - you don't really own a star, so, is it a bad gift, or a thoughtful fun gift? if you recieverd one what would you think?

been thinking about an unique gift for my nephew/godson's baptism. wanted somethign unusual - other than a bible or something that others will get -

so, what are you r thoughts on naming a star - silly, or fun and unique?

I'm talking about someone could be from work or meetings or random and that person is always wanting to shake hands with you or touch your shoulders or arms. Especially, if it's from the same sex. I'm a guy and I hate it when guys to that to me. This one guy at work kept wanting to shake hands everytime I say something he agrees with. Why's he do that? And I dont ' want to be impolite by not shaking back.

here's the kicker......They are your customer and you are a small business owner. How would you handle the situation if it meant losing their business if you confronted them about their racism....

I'm asking this because this recently happened to me and I needed the business and didn't say anything. I think the customer is an evil prick but I also have to eat and pay my bills.

One of my close friends [Cass], who I will not see in a long while, gave me a really cute/expensive pen as a goodbye gift.

My other friend[Dwight] got upset, because he doesnt like Cass, and when I was not looking he dipped the cover part of the pen into "white off or liquid paper".You know that white thing you use to erase mistakes made by a pen?

Anyways what he did only came to my attention a few minutes ago and the liquid paper is dry and wont come off.

I'm hurt not because the pen is expensive but because other than the memories I have of Cass this is the only tangible object I have.

I feel like yelling at Dwight but I am currently trying to control my anger as I had a problem with it a few days ago.Dwight is still over at my place and I am getting more upset everytime I look at him.

Will it be rude to ask him to leave?
Or should I sit him down and talk about it?

BTW-anyone know how I can get the liquid paper off? Water isnt working.

Thanks for your answers.

There are $63 here. It's my grandmother's. The question is: what do I do?
A. Do I take them all so she'll think she put the money somewhere else and she doesn't remember it
or
B. Do I take a small amount, like $20 so she won't notice

what's the best way to go?

I have a diachotamy that I have been frequently exposed to or have witnessed.

It is a contraditiction of respect.

When I was younger and the teacher was disrespectful to me, I would naturally get annoyed, but when I did I was sent to detension for being 'disrespectful to her'.
I was told that I was back-chatting my parents for example (what ever that means).
I was faced with the confusion of not being able to discriminate the different between the way my anger is thought of as disrespectful and the other persons to me.

This I would like to know.

My bf had to go to the doctors to get a sports phyiscal. I went with because he was making a huge deal over it. Usually they do some quick stuff at the school but they cancelled it this year so he had to go to the doctors. I guess he hates going to hosipitals and doctor offices. The past 2 nights he has been restless hardly sleeping. Then last night he didnt eat dinner and didnt eat breakfeast. We went to the doctors today and while in the waiting room he wouldnt sit still. He would get up and pace and squirm in his seat. He became real pale. ( Even pale for a white guy). Then when he was done he was like lets get the hell out of here and he literaly dragged me out of the office. Hes taking me out to dinner tonight to celbrate that he never has to go back to the doctors. He told me hes never going back. He doesnt need to hear how long he has left to live he'd rather just one day get sick an die a couple days later. Is this normal for adults to be scared of the doctors?
