I'm going to a new school this fall, does anyone have any tips on how to avoid giving off the "new girl" vibe?

you are the new girl. this is reality. don't try to escape it. use it to your advantage to make friends (I'm new here, where is the bathroom) - (i'm new here, how does lunch work) - (i'm new here, where does everyone go on sat night)- etc. don't use the "i'm new" thing for too long or it wears out.

Don't be shy. Be confident and nice to people. It might take a little, but you'll end up knowing everyone and someone will welcome you into their group of friends. You can't imagine how many time I've changed schools and it's always the same. Although it changes from school to school, so don't get depressed if you have to eat alone for a bit before anybody invites you to their table.

Above all, don't be awkward. And don't worry, in the end, when you're hanging out with your new friends you'll be thinking "it's a good thing I changed school or if not I would never have met these people".

why would you want to do that? when you're new, you're at an advantage: all the girls are jealous; all the guys are intrigued because no one knows who you are. And the only person who has control of that is you. Just be yourself and don't sweat any one else that expects more of that. It would have suck to be liked for someone you're not instead of making friends with people who are cool with the person who's comfortable enough in her own skin.

I've gone to 6 different high schools already. Being the new girl can be fun, you get noticed. And you'll lose the new girl feeling after a week or so... It's really not as stressful as we make it out to be.

I don't know. I moved so many different schools and it made it really hard for me. I was always the new girl and all the other girls were so jealous of me it was ridiculous. I would just join some kind of sports...that does usually help.

I would join all of the clubs/activities that you most enjoy. You will make friends quickly and no one will think you are the new chick because you will always be surrounded by people. It worked for me! But that was many years ago!

Be unique in your own way! Act comfortably around everyone
not a nervous wreck.

It isn't like the movies. my sister switched states and she has a bunch of friends. she joined sports, i guess that helps.
