Etiquette - May 2007

I'm at uni, I live in a house with 5 other girls roughly the same age as me. I have 2 main problems..
1) is the girl whom is the otherside of my wall, we have fire doors so if you don't close them carefully they slam shut very loudly & as the house has majorly thin walls they shake violently.... which really sucks when I'm leaning against the wall! lol anyway she slams her door all the time no matter what time of day it is. The worst thing is she sings extremely loudly sometimes as early as 7am!
2) Another girl has actually let her friend move in with her & didn't even check it was ok with every1 else, I would've said yes anyway (even though it's not really allowed) & this particular room mate really takes the p*** she has her noisy friends over nearly every single night up until 3...4...5 smoking pot & being annoyin I often come downstairs to find ash, broken things & food everywhere. My question is... what shall I do? lol & just for fun, what did you room mates do?

I will have the building cleaned and vacated by June 16, 2007. At that time, I will also mail you all of the keys. Please consider reimbursing my deposit. You may send it to me at P.O. Box 853, Center, TX 75935.

Thank you for allowing me to rent the building from you, I greatly appreciate it.

Ok, does this letter sound better? Or do you think I should change some of the wording again?? This is only a month to month rental so I dont have a contract or anything. Thanks for all your help!!

Approx. 10-12 other employees wash and clean your vehicle before it gets to the drying area. When that employee finishes drying your car, he hands you the keys in a way that appears he has his hand out for a tip. Why is he the only one that would get a tip?

I remember when everyone used to dance with each other and you would even ask a girl to dance and it used to be about getting close and itimate to get sparks going...
These day's everyone seems to be oblivious to everyone else and I struggle to even get girls to dance with me even without them thinking im hitting on them...
Even when I compliment girls it seems I am stepping over some politically correct boundary, and the assumption is I am hitting on them, they dont even give a chance...
Same with touching people what happened to a bit of physical contact during conversations.
Am I just too axious or is it just a sign of the times we live in?
I am only 21 but it seems like the 50,60,70s and 80s were about the dance floor being a social interaction ground...
Now even the style of dancing to house seems to be very solitude and its seems almost impossible to even dance with somebody. eg. compared to jazz, old school rock

Every single day, for the past 2 years or so, I've been constantly hounded by these dogs. It is insanely annoying that I cannot even sit in my own back yeard without being constantly barked at. Every single time i go out to the car, they are there waiting to bark at me. I swear one even woke up once just to bark at me. So the question is, how do i get rid of them? I can't possibly deal with this any longer, so anything is a possibility.

I have a grave dug out and I lie there for hours. It's very calming. One day a rabbit fell in and hit me on the head, but that's better than the time a bird dropped a deposit on me.

I have access to getting 1/2 price tickets anytime to a nearby IMAX theater. A co-worker asked me if I can get a few for her, to which I said no problem. While we continued to talk, she mentioned she had 2 Red Sox tickets for the Memorial Day game she's looking to get rid of. I offered to take them off her hands at face value in cash right there. Her reply was that she was going to wait to see how much she can get for them. She's obviously looking to profit off of something she cannot use. Was that rude of her to answer me like that even though I was immediately ready to buy them?

I mean I recently visited a question involving a person both obviously in debt, and breaking a very simple 'law' of etiquette, and all I saw were rampant thumbs down, heartless non-constructive answers being in the majority, and venom spewed forth like sour milk. Maybe the category should be re-named......Inherently bad natured people who would like to come forth and vent their Mighty Wrath?

I was invited to a bridal shower for a member of my husband's extended family. I am not attending this shower because I have no babysitter for my 3 children (and I also don't care too much to go anyway) and the invitation was addressed to only me, not me and family. After telling one of my in-laws (who is not hosting this shower, nor has anything to do with it other than attending herself) that I was not attending because the invitation wasn't addressed to "me & family" she said, "Oh it's ok, you can bring them, she won't care." I was appalled at this response for a few reasons:

1. She is not hosting this so how can she say who is welcome and who is not.
2. My in-laws constantly arrive at functions with party crashers and it annoys me to no end.
3. What would make her think that 3 kids would want to sit at a bridal shower, or that the other guests would want to contend with them?

What do you think of her response?
