I have access to getting 1/2 price tickets anytime to a nearby IMAX theater. A co-worker asked me if I can get a few for her, to which I said no problem. While we continued to talk, she mentioned she had 2 Red Sox tickets for the Memorial Day game she's looking to get rid of. I offered to take them off her hands at face value in cash right there. Her reply was that she was going to wait to see how much she can get for them. She's obviously looking to profit off of something she cannot use. Was that rude of her to answer me like that even though I was immediately ready to buy them?

Yes, she was rude. Entirely within her rights, but rude.

Just don't do anymore favors for her. She's obviously only looking out for her own profits.

Now, there's nothing wrong with maximizing your profits, but she's clearly not interested in being friends with you. Just understand that "co-worker" is where your relationship ends, and don't give her any more consideration than that deserves.

On face value, it's rude. Though you could probably assume the fundamental attribution error in this situation and ask yourself "Why does she need to sell the tickets?" - There might be a legitimate reason; does she need the money for a certain reason? Maybe her pet is ill and she can't afford the vet fees. Has she gotten herself into debt?
Were the tickets given to her by someone she is trying to spite? Maybe she wants to capitalise on the tickets in order to get back at another person.

If there's no overriding reason, yep, you bet she's being selfish - that's just not how the favour exchange system works!

buying and selling items in the workplace is rude
if this was a friend, then I would say the reply was rude, and a good friend would have probably offered them for free as well, but if she had purchased the tickets at full price then she probably feels as if she can make a profit from them

Big difference between Imax tickets and Redsox tickets. You offered her face value which is fair, but she has every right to hold on to see what she can get. She wasnt rude to answer you like that.

countless human beings don't understand shy human beings in any respect. And that's the actuality. I also have a comfortable Social Phobia and regrettably there is often some ignorant dumb guy or woman being rude to me first and then accusing me of being rude, because of the fact i'm only apprehensive. A LOAD OF SHITE. lol i'd desire to admit, some persons are very information, like my pals etc. yet human beings like that are very tricky to locate at present. As shy persons are only below regarded and seen as unusual. i'm able to tell the version between a shy guy or woman and a rude guy or woman. Shy guy or woman: Will a minimum of try at times, like say hi, how are you etc. they'll make eye touch and tutor a delightful face. at times while they communicate, they'll sound variety of shaky and apprehensive. A rude guy or woman: Will supply rude and awkward stares, at times even refuse to introduce themselves. won't make eye touch with somebody while they're conversing. and could only no longer make the attempt with particular human beings. And maximum rude persons are no longer even shy, they happen to be extra advantageous and only % to get alongside with human beings like themselves. they're oftentimes like that because of the fact they have not have been given any manners or only insecure. Its no longer approximately how quiet somebody is, its relating to the physique language.

I only think it was rude because she asked you to get HER tickets at a discounted price for the IMAX. I think I would have to tell her I paid full price for the tickets!

i think it is, you are willing to help her out by getting her tickets for half price, the least she could have done was sell you the tickets, what would she lose, you were ready to pay her right there and then in cash. i think one good turn deserves another. i think the saying is true, money is the root of all evil.

It's wasn't rude but she was being her true self. Get over it. When she asks you to get Imax tickets that you want to see how much you can get for it and move on.

It was rude. Tell her that you changed your mind about getting her the IMAX tickets and that you are thinking about seeing how much you can get for them. I heart the Red Sox.

Yes it was rude of her - especially when you got her tickets (and were just talking about it at the very same time). How could she be that callous - Maybe mention that you'd like the tickets back as you have somebody that will pay a little more for them, and see how she likes it.
