Approx. 10-12 other employees wash and clean your vehicle before it gets to the drying area. When that employee finishes drying your car, he hands you the keys in a way that appears he has his hand out for a tip. Why is he the only one that would get a tip?

When we did the car wash that they dry the cars at we mostly did not because they did a crappy job. There was one guy we tipped. An older guy that busted his butt. Then he wasn't there anymore and we heard that he died. We only do touchless now since we got some scratches a few times at the dry your car ones. Mostly my husband washes our cars. he does an excellent job.

I don't tip at the car-wash because I usually am already paying $16.00 for a "premier" wash. However, I do believe the way they do it at this particular car-wash is have an actual tip-box at the end of the line where you can put in and be assured that the tips will be divided up in a fair and equitable fashion.

When I take my car to one of those places, I sit outside and watch the detailing. If I see ONE person doing all that work, that's who I tip. Sometimes I wonder if everybody pools their tips at the end of the day and just divide it all up equally (I used to work as a counter waitress in a bowling alley and we did this). Ask the cashier if the tips are pooled.

I give him a dollar. Though at the car wash I usually use, there is a tip box at the exit, which is probably fairer as it allows all of the guys to share the tips.

Don't tip. Full stop! When I moved to Australia 22 years ago I found that tipping just wasn't a general practice - it's demeaning for the recipient. He should always do his job to the best of his ability, and be paid properly for it.
