My supervisor wants me to send out an email requesting the vacation schedules from the group. I’m kind of nervous, because I’m not the best writer and don’t want to sound stupid. Can some one give me some insight, on how I should send the email. I wanted to add a little humor.

I work with this woman who patronises everyone for their behaviour and personal life.

For instance i am friends with a guy at work and he is married and so am i but thats all we are - friends - and she made a big deal of it saying that she felt sorry for his wife (even though me and his wife are now good friends and going on holiday together next month leaving the hubbies and kids at home!). She also gossiped about me and him all the time and made people beleive that we actually were having an affair!...

I have just found out that she (also married) has been seeing another colleague of ours... Info came from the horses mouth (his) so to speak!

What a complete hypocrite...

Do I

A) Laugh everytime I see her and never utter a word but satisfy myself with a quiet chuckle..

B) Openly ask her if she has been seeing him and tell her that she is being talked about behind her back..

or

C) Tell as many people as possible to get back at her for making my life hell?

I always comment on people's looks, not to the point where a person can actually hear me talking about them but I always say stuff about a person's "flaws" to whoever I'm with. Stuff like, She has a big nose or She has alot of zits etc. I'm very critical of myself and looks are a big thing for me. I try to look as good as I possibly can. I'm not mean and would never ever make a mean or rude comment outloud where other people can hear it. But I hate it that I always seem to pick out what I consider to be a person's "flaws". They could be the nicest sweetest person, but if they have a "flaw" such as a big nose or crooked teeth or missing teeth etc., I think to myself, she'd be pretty if she didn't have that big nose or whatever. Why do I do this? Does anyone else ever do this or think these things about people you see when you're out? I wanna stop doing this cuz I would hate for people to point out my "flaws". Does this make me shallow??

OK, here's the setup. You just joined an adult sports league. You played 3 games and hung out with your team once after a game. Your team captain's sister unexpectedly dies. You do not know her personally. You never hang out with the guy other than league functions. Do you attend her funeral?

Okay my husband’s sister and I started on the right foot initially. But, she has become more and more distant from me. I don’t know why.
I’ll give you a quick back story and see if you can figure out what her problem is:.
She’s the youngest of two boys and always gets what she wants, she has never worked a day in her life. Let’s just say her life is all set given that she also married someone who will always support her. I just don’t like her constant mood swings. My husband even agrees that she’s a morale crasher at family gatherings given her bad attitude. Everyone is too afraid to confront her fearing a temper tantrum (BTW she’s 26)
Out of good graces I accepted her to stay in my house because me mother in law was staying with us when my new baby arrived. For some reason whenever she shows up her and my mother in law team up and ignore me completely. No, I’m not being paranoid.
Here’s one example: I went downstairs to the kitchen to get water one morning and said good morning.

What would you have done in this situation? Was I unprofessional, and was I justified in my reaction?
I work at a major chain grocery store. Last night our credit/debit/food stamp card pin pads went down. We could only accept credit cards, any cards that required a "pin" number were not being accepted. This was a system wide problem. I know that it affected stores in at least 2 states.
Well, I put signs up on the front doors, and all the registers. One guy comes in, ignores all the signs. Comes to my register, I explained BEFORE he unloaded all his groceries that we could only accept cash or credit cards, the EBT and Debit pins were not going through. He said "Ok". I get the order rung up and he pulls out a food stamp card. I told him, "I don't think it will work, our system has been down, but we can try it". When it doesn't work he goes off, "This is f**king bulls*it!! You should take my f**king card!" I said, "I'm sorry, but it's a system problem."

cont'd...

I'm getting married in August and you always hear those stories on television and in movies about people whose weddings are objected or stopped for one reason or another while the seemingly happy bride and groom are standing up at the alter.

I'm just wondering if these things really happen and if you have any stories to share? I know this network of people spans the globe and I'm curious as to how many people have had their weddings stopped?

All the details, please :). Thanks so much in advance!

I am 18 and my parents always taught me that it was rude to call an adult by their first name...however, I just recently had someone ask me to call her and her husband by their first names (they are in their 40's). I said that I would feel a bit awkward calling them by their first names, but then she said that it was etiquette to call someone by their first name if they ask you to once you are 18 or older. Is that true? Where is the rule of etiquette say that? If anyone can answer with a source, that would be helpful.

:)

Thanks!

Both the elderly (who might have senility and/ or the 'respect your elders' argument on their side) as well as middle-aged communities seem to be just as rude, in some quarters, as the younger generation- anyone else found this?

There is a young single mother in my street who is perhaps eighteen, I am guessing. I know she works hard in a factory but it is obvious that she is not very well off, but her child, a young boy of maybe five or six, is always well presented and is polite for his age.

I often find myself walking home at the same time that she is coming back from the supermarket, struggling with many bags of shopping as she does not drive and I presume has not the money for a taxi.

I want to ask her if she needs help with her bags, as I walk by her front door often and so it wouldn't be out of my way. However I am worried that she might take this as a slight on her abilities and independence; is there a way I can gauge her possible reaction without risking a telling off?

Thanks!

Okay, can we keep the inner psychiatrist to ourselves and bring out the nice people that you are? I am curious to see what people will do for each other to simply BE NICE to a person who never seems to be happy. The person doesn't necessarily have to have "Issues" they simply need cheering up!

My husband and I were engaged for 2 years before finally deciding to elope last week. The main reason we did it was because a large wedding was out of the question and most of our family/friends would've been disappointed had they not been invited.

Would it be extremely tacky to send out a mass email or ecard announcing the news to distant family and friends? What is a cheap alternative, if you consider this too tacky. Cost is an issue for us so the cheaper the better. Thanks for all the help in advance.

The mentally challanged girl at my school won't stop calling me. I talk to her on the phone about half an hour a day before saying I have to go, but I'm feeling the drain of our convetsations. I don't have that many hours in the day. Also, in school she's constantly hugging me, and this isn't a generalization for all mentally challanged people but she smells bad. She also always wants to come over, and cries and makes a scene I say "not today", or if I neglected to answer one of the millions of messages she left me. I wish there was a nice way to explain to someone they are being clingy. What do I do?

I would like to address "Tawnya's" answer. My grandmother told me about the baking soda tip in beans. I don't add it to my beans because I guess i'm mean spirited. I like to watch 'em squirm or go outside to be alone. Is this wrong? Do I have a warped sense of humor. Or do you think it's funny too? My friends have never complained. But I bet the drive home was quite interesting for everyone in the car.

The restroom is like what 5-star hotel's have. Very nice. I'm peeing in the urinal.

The CEO walks in with someone with whom he seems to be having a business conversation with. The business conversation is tangented by meaningless banter from time to time, but they've spent a long time in front of the sink near my urinal.

I needed to fart. I figured it's a bathroom, I'm allowed to fart. So I did. The thunderous crunch paused their conversation and they looked at me. Seconds later, the aroma filled the room.

Farting in my office is rude. Farting anywhere, the hallway, someone's cube, is understandably rude. But if you can't fart in any of these places, the bathroom is often the fastest choice.

Is what I did wrong? It's the restroom, they shouldn't be conducting business in there. It's not like I went to their offices stood in between them and farted. I feel like these two gentlemen were going to fire me. Who's in the wrong?

My husband and I just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We think that it's a big deal but obviously no one on either side of our families think so because no one had a party for us. We have 2 sons ages 29 and 21 and they didn't either.
So when talking with my therapist she suggested that we throw our own party, even though it's not proper.
So, what do you think? And if you think it's alright, how long can we wait to have it because right now is not a good time.

My last name is absolutely embarrassing. People think that it is cool, but I get made fun of because of it. I've even got a theme song from the lunch ladies =[ It's also a mouthful. I've told my mom to change her last name to my grandmas last name, but she said that it is too much paper work, court work, ect. I want a more.. casual last name. My step mom's last name is short and easy on the ears, is it possible that I change my last name to hers?

I just met this guy at the bus station last night, and when I took him home for sex, I asked him to put on a condom (I don't feel like getting pregnant AGAIN) and he acted all offended and he wouldn't put it on. I just gave him oral and he went home, but is it really that much to ask that he put one on? What is the best way of bringing it up so that I don't keep scaring men away? I've had this happen with 3 or 4 guys just in the past week.
