Okay, can we keep the inner psychiatrist to ourselves and bring out the nice people that you are? I am curious to see what people will do for each other to simply BE NICE to a person who never seems to be happy. The person doesn't necessarily have to have "Issues" they simply need cheering up!

i think everyone likes to feel like they are special every now and then, so something to help brighten that persons day, maybe a favorite candy bar, or pick some wild flowers and take it to them. when people feel like someone thinks they are special, it always makes them feel good.

The most precious gift you can give a friend is your time. Why not ask her to just stay in and watch a rented comedy with you and pig out on snacks ? I recomend "Harold and Maude" for the blues cause it deals with a boy being transformed from loving death to loving life. Maybe if you can you can make it a weekly date and then she will have something to look forward to all week. Lonliness is so comon these days when our interactions are all so shallow and over a keyboard. Also, try to touch her with your hand, casually, on the shoulder or hair. Humans need physical touch like we need food and air ! It is beautiful that you care. Good Luck !

If someone ALWAYS seems to be down, then they DO have a problem. And it's not your job to cheer them up.

But I'm assuming that you mean someone who just is having a bad time for awhile.

I would help them out in whatever way would make an impact. For example, my husband was overseas in Iraq for 15 mos. My "friends" dissapeared during that time. I was pretty depressed for awhile. What would have made my day would be to have someone just show up one night with dinner already made.

If your friend is overwhelmed with "stuff to do", I would set aside time and help out. If they have money troubles, I would help them have a yard sale, or find a 2nd job, or clip coupons.

If they are lonely, I would commit to one night a week to spend with them doing "whatever".

It depends on the person.

Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is just listen.

A lot of times a nice day out in the fresh air is a real pick me up to someone who has a depression problem. A trip to the zoo, picnic, state fair or something along those lines tends to be helpful.

Take them out for a day, pamper them with a day in a Spa or surprise them with a weekend away.
Have then over for a dinner party and a couple of bottles of wine. always make them feel included and remember friends are far and few between in this world, its always good to do things for each other, to keep that friendship strong, through good and bad times..its nice to be their for one another regardless..

i think of its style of scummy while woman do this. i'm a woman and not in any respect do this as quickly as im in a relationship. Its one factor to be friendly and characteristic guy acquaintances yet to flirt purely crosses the line. My mum and dad arent collectively anymore, so my mom dates, she has a boyfriend now and nonetheless flirts with different men and talks to them and promises them her extensive type and talks to them on the telephone and cyber web even however she could under no circumstances truthfully cheat. I yell at her each and every of the time for this, i think of its very rude in the direction of her boyfriend, because of the fact hes a sturdy guy. Relationships are outfitted on believe and admire, and flirting performs with that. men do this too, yet regrettably, maximum men take it farther than purely flirting and truthfully cheat. -Sigh- what a shame. men and woman alike particularly need to earnings the thank you to admire.

when my best friend gets in the dumps i try to make her feel good about herself (no easy feat since we live in different provinces now) but when we lived close to each other i would pick her up and we would head for the beach or hit the salon for a mani or something to make her feel better. othertimes i would show up with a chick flick and icecream in my jammies (middle of the day even) and we would lounge on the couches all day.
