I’ve been discussing an event that happened to me weekend before last and I’m realizing that people are far too careless with their personal safety, even women. I offered to walk a girl (who trusts me) to her car, and she declined. Earlier that day a girl in the exact area was assaulted and kidnapped. She ended up getting the guy caught, but had she not then the girl I offered to escort would have very likely fell victim herself since she walked past area that the sleazebag worked to get to her car. I asked two questions here and an overwhelming number of women told me that I should respect the girl’s desire to go alone. Of course I did in the end respect her wishes, but I do think that it was wrong of her to refuse me because she disregarded the importance of her personal safety to her family and loved ones, nevermind the importance of her safety to me. And only one person even NOTICED that I said ONE THING about her RESPONSIBILITY to keep herself safe. (more)

My friend wanted some clothes for vacation and thought she'd surprise her boyfriend with some more provocative clothing. She looked great in everything she borrowed.

Since she usually dresses so conservatively, he was shocked at this, and he was getting annoyed and jealous by all the men staring at her.

They've been together for 3 years, and he's never shown this behavior, and I've been friends with her for 10 years!

Now, he's blaming ME for ruining their vacation and implying I should pay for the trip!!!

I don't even know where to begin with this! I am in shock!

Should I give him a gift card or something for all the trouble this caused? It was my idea for her to borrow the clothes and surprise him.

My car is in the shop and I had to borrow a friends car to catch a flight at the airport. My friend had just used the car the same morning & said he left soda & water in the cooler. What he neglected to tell me is his dirty chewing tobacco / spit cup was on the dash.

I was in traffic and mistook the tobacco-spit cup sitting on the dash for a soft drink and took a big gulp. I started choking and had to stop and call 911 for medical help.

As you can imagine, I missed my flight. I hold my friend directly responsible for being a slob and leaving that cup on the dash. I insist he forks over the $250 penalty for missing the flight & the $100 co-pay for the medical attention. He is not cooperating much. Do I have a good case if I take him to small claims court?

Family members and neighbors tend to drop by all the time uninvited. They will show up during dinner time, or our coffee time. This is constant!! Our food bill is getting outrageous. They don't even bring us a gallon of milk and they know I have children. On a typical day we go through a gallon of milk and that is without the company. I've tried saying things like, kids eat your food and don't ask for anymore because I cooked just enough. Some of these people will just sit themselves at my table even before my children sit down. Some won't leave until I give them at least coffee. We've eaten our dinner very late waiting for them to leave. It's ridiculous. One of them, who is an older man and is very well to do, goes through my kitchen cabinets, my refridge, etc. looking for snacks. I have locked our cabinets and changed the snacks locations to no avail. I've even ignored the door. They'll bang on my windows!! I've been blunt, I've been rude. Nothing works!! Help!!!

associate with them and then they started messing with your car and yelling obsceneties to you? I have reported this to the office of my apartment complex, in writing already and that has stopped, but now one of them, right in front of my children, ages 6 and 4, said to their child that my children are mean kids. My son called me at work upset because she said that. Should I report that as well or just let it be? They have already received notices to stop screaming obsceneties, messing with my car, and walking by my apartment when they have no reason to be there. Thanks.

Saturday I was on a bus when a chap and his carerer got on the bus - he was in a wheel chair having no limbs beyond the knees. The ignorant driver after watching them struggle with the chair to get on, then proceeded to ask for their passes of which were not to hand after the struggle, they got quite perplexed. I was livid as indeed other passengers were. I have emailed the depot and awaiting a response - could do with as many people bringing to the attention of gmp (manchester) their drivers attitudes. All to often we hear of what the driver has to suffer from passengers - I have news for them we passengers suffer also - and we are paying them for a service - would you get your emails going to bring this to attention if you obviously have experienced such behavior or even heard of such. They need to learn public relations for sure.

We are not un-friendly but some people just will not leave you alone. My husband and I are quite happy to be with each other. We just wish people would not assume because you are staying in the same hotel, that they may invite themselves to either sit at your table or even accompany you on your days out. Without being rude can anyone come up with a solution.

I am a proud father of my 13 year old daughter Kristin and she recently asked for me to buy her thong panties and thong swimwear. I think she is a great kid as she has a 4.0 G.P.A and she never has gotten in any trouble but I am worried about this. I never had a reason to doubt her before and I am raising her by myself. It's just that I know when I go to the beach and see a young teen in a thong, as a 33 year old guy, I know it would excite me. I can only imagine if the boys know she is wearing it, what it may do. I dont want her pregnant and I dont want older guys on the beach to be checking her out. What, should I do? She is a very pretty innocent girl, and I dont want her to be some older mans masturbation fantasy. Should I just say no?

A close family friend celebrated a major b'day last year. We(I, husband, kids) took them out for a dinner. After 1.5 years, my "major" b'day came. She said we go out &eat in the weekend.
Small kids, busy lives, we couldn't find a time that worked for all. 4 wknds went by - kids sick, kids parties etc.
She said, hey, your next b'day is coming around. Let's hurry up.
Friday's don't work for me - I'm dead tired. Sundays don't work for her - needs to get ready for the week. Next 3 Sat's looked undoable for both.
She started repeatedly pushing me to agree to go out on a Friday. I refused. Finally, we did go out on a Sat, but it was a 'chilly' dinner.
Question: I feel if I am celebrating something, I shouldn't have to go out on a day that doesn't work for me. She can take out 3 hrs from a get-ready-for-the-week Sun. Or we wait for a day both are OK with. She didn't want to delay much. she cld have: do nothing, gift card, small cake. Who was more right ?

Last weekend my b/f and I was walking along the pavement infront of Isetan when he nudged at me to look at the couple walking towards our direction. What I saw really really surprised me. The lady was wearing a pair of unbelievable short skirt. Its length was so short that we could see the tip of her white panty. When they walked passed us I turned to see her back and I was even more surprised. She was wearing a full butt panty and her skirt length fall short of at least one full centimeter. I also noticed people around are also stealing glances at her botton. My first comment to my b/f of her was "hiou" (vain) and why does she need to wear her skirt that short? Does she ever feel "pai seh" (embarrass)? Surprisingly my b/f think I'm over reacting and think she has the right to dress whatever she wishes as long as she feels comfortable and most importantly her male companion didn't object to her dressing. Soon we found ourselves in heated argument and we haven't spoken to each other for the last couple of days and I’m not ready to call him either. Do you think I’m too conservative and old fashion or is my b/f too open-minded?

One of your friends is an incredibly quiet person, sometimes even shy. If they pass by you, rather than actually "say" hello to you, they smile and give you a small wave with their fingers. But then after you make eye contact, they'll glance downwards.

Would you find that cute or would it drive you nuts?

I have a friend who is loaded with money, but for some reason, each time I go to visit her, she gives me the tackiest of food. She even works next door to Marks & Spencer's, but I never see a nice cake from there for me at her home!! She will give me fairy cakes from the market and the cheapest Tesco's value ready salted crisps. When she comes to see me, I give her loads of stuff to eat - good quality stuff and I even earn less than her. Why do people do this? She has been like this for 20 years. Once she asked if I fancied a biscuit and when I said, yes please, she brought me just one jaffa cake in her hand for me! She is 36 for goodness sake. I've even made 3 course dinners for her whole family.
