I am a proud father of my 13 year old daughter Kristin and she recently asked for me to buy her thong panties and thong swimwear. I think she is a great kid as she has a 4.0 G.P.A and she never has gotten in any trouble but I am worried about this. I never had a reason to doubt her before and I am raising her by myself. It's just that I know when I go to the beach and see a young teen in a thong, as a 33 year old guy, I know it would excite me. I can only imagine if the boys know she is wearing it, what it may do. I dont want her pregnant and I dont want older guys on the beach to be checking her out. What, should I do? She is a very pretty innocent girl, and I dont want her to be some older mans masturbation fantasy. Should I just say no?

No thongs for 13-yr. olds. Absolutely not. I have a 10-yr. old & I know for a fact she will not be wearing any THONG anything. It's completely unecessary at that age. Kids grow up too fast as it it...don't rush things anymore than they already are in today's fast culture. NO THONGS.

I think 13 is old enough for a thong, and guys checking her out won't get her pregnant. If she is gonna have sex, a thong will play very little in the decision, trust me! Which BTW, 13 is just about the right age for that too, these days. As for the "excited" part, so... you're a normal guy, so what? Time for her to make the either abstinance or birth control decision ~

I'm sorry, but no. I know she's a good kid. I know you love your daughter and want to commend her good deeds, but a thong is NOT the answer. You have to put your foot down softly and say "no, honey".
You are 33y/o man, you said yourself that it would excite you if you saw someone her age in a thong. If you watch the news you know how bad the child sex offenders are getting. Your child will become a target in a thong. Explain to her that leaving nothing to the imagination is not the way to impress boys. The ones who would give her attention in a thong are not the kind of guys she needs to be with anyhow. Try to make it up to her by buying her somethine else she wants, that doesn't expose so much skin. She's a smart girl and has a lot to offer. Stress that point to her, so that she doesn't feel that she needs to get guys' attention by dressing provocatively.

Kristin is too young for a thong SWIMSUIT... but underwear is a different issue altogether.

For one thing.. she is old enough to go shopping for her own underwear.. it's not appropriate for YOU to be doing it with her! If there is no mom, is there an aunt or older sister or cousin who could help out?

At any rate she is old enough to be concerned with panty-lines, and although personally I find thongs incredibly uncomfortable and don't wear them, both my daughters wear them regularly depending on whether or not they are suitable for what they are wearing. She'll probably acquire a whole wardrobe of different styles of panties.. and dad.. they're really none of your business any more :)

P.S. Wait til she asks you about waxing :)

I think you should. The first time I got a thing I was 12, and with a 14 year old and she got one too. Her mother bought them for us of course, but the thing is she is a straight up Christian who changes the radio when somebody says anything that may refer to something sexual. The problem with fathers is they over look this as a sexual act, which it is not! The panties are for no panty lines through pants and shorts, the bathing suit is probably just for self confidence. Don't over look it, it's just underwear

wow, you must be a cool dad and guys must have a very good, open relationship if she feels comfortable asking you for a thong! seriously, i would have self-imploded when i was 13 if i had to ask my dad for thong underwear!! so that's great... but don't get it for her. she's young, so she must be asking for it because she saw it on a magazine, or on other girls (older hopefully?). but it does have a sexual connotation, and she may or may not realize it. maybe she does, so you may have to ask a few more questions. could you explain to her that it's not really appropriate for her age? offer to buy her other cute things, like normal underwear, tank tops, etc. that are not so provocative, but still fun (I don't know where you live, but in Canada there are "La Senza girls" stores that carry a lot of cool underwear and other things for tweens and teens) good luck!!

God no. I'm 26 years old and I wouldn't even go near my dad in a thong. Sh!t I wouldn't even let him KNOW I own one. Are you nuts??? Don't get her a thong. Instead teach her that what really matters in life is what's in her head, not down there.

You tell her no way! you tell her nice ,you tell her mean, how ever you just tell her NO! She is to young, especially for the thong bathing suit to be worn out in front of people. You tell her that rear end better stay covered. There is perverts everywhere and especially at the beach and hanging around pools. please don't buy her one. Hey she might get upset but it is your job to keep her safe.

No, I wouldn't buy her the thong. It's meant as an advertisement for guys to check her out as a sexual object- though she may not realize the depth of that. Too, I think you buying it as her dad is, well, inappropriate.
Tell her that she's too young for that, but buy her cute one piece or conservative bikini instead.
Good luck!
