It should be acceptable! In spite of persistent myths, it's not against the law to go barefoot in stores or restaurants, insurance companies do not require or even recommend shoes for customers, and there are no laws against driving barefoot.
You don't catch diseases from going barefoot; athlete's foot needs a dark, damp and warm environment to grow. You can catch it when going barefoot briefly and then putting on closed shoes, but if you keep your feet bare, it won't be able to get a hold in the well-ventilated, light environment the bare skin itself provides. The only common parasite that enters through the skin is the hookworm, which is no longer common in the South since modern plumbing has replaced the outhouses and never was much of a problem in cooler climates. Our skin is made to keep pathogens out, we're at far greater risk picking anything up through our hands, because with our hands we touch our food and faces (even if you wash your hands before dinner, many people lean on their chin, wipe hair out of their face, eat a single snack or cookie, etc, etc). That way the pathogens can enter our body; what's on the skin of our feet generally can't. Even glass and the like isn't much of a problem; I never divert my step even when I see glass and I get a tiny splinter maybe once a year, never had a cut. Skin is very tough when you habitually go barefoot!

Barefoot in public definitly is acceptable. Although in the opinions of the less informed, its not, but here are some facts.
Bacteria cultures taken from around public places grew higher amounts of germs and pathogens from area's touched by your hands than on the floor and ground. (this includes public restrooms!!! - so I guess Britney will be O.K. - escalater handels were the worst.)
There are no health codes stopping customers from shopping and dinning in places barefoot.
Being barefoot is healthier for your feet than wearing shoes.
Lets all go barefoot a little bit more.

Absolutely!!! It's not against the law, or any ficticious Health Department regulation.
Free your feet! Being barefoot is the healthiest thing you can do for your feet.
Who cares what others think, especially those who are weird and think it's "gross". They just don't get it, and probably never will.
Go BAREFOOT and LIVE!!!!

YES of course, why is it even an issue? Nothing better than bf'n it! Free and comfortable, stylish, attractive, cute to guys, and normal and natural! There are ppl who sadly were raised with some kind of prejudice against it, but hey... let 'em suffer the discomfort and unhealthy results of footwear!

If the world was perfect, and people didnt spit, chew, smoke, or spew phlem onto the ground, there were no diseases like athletes foot, and if items like glass shards, and other painful skin breaking things didnt fall thanks to gravity onto the ground, and if you kept your feet sweet and meticulous all the time, not just summer, then SURE ... GO barefoot.
But seriously, who has the desire to walk in someones snot rocket, carelessly thrown on the ground, or get hit by a bus because they are too busy looking down at what they might step in to be careful?
Get some sandals and pretend?!

At the beach -- sure -- walking in the city or around a non-beach town not so much!! Some places are made to walk barefoot others are simply unsanitary to.

It really depends.
It's not okay if: you're going to a job interview or an audition. You're going to be walking into buildings; most don't allow bare feet anyway.
If you're just gonna be walking around outside, or like...in school or something, it's perfectly fine. However, that could be extremely dangerous.

Not usually, unless you`re in a pool side bar. Most of the time it is a health and safety issue. I was in my sock feet in a hotel breakfast buffet and they told me it was unacceptable. I was walking to my hotel room and to the buffet, which was five feet away, but it was still a no no.
