One of your friends is an incredibly quiet person, sometimes even shy. If they pass by you, rather than actually "say" hello to you, they smile and give you a small wave with their fingers. But then after you make eye contact, they'll glance downwards.
Would you find that cute or would it drive you nuts?

Hey that sounds like me honestly I think its sexy, but if its just a friend most of the time they want someone to actually pull them out of there shyness, either that or they like using the computer alot like I do. I'm really really really shy and I do the same thing.

I am exactly the same way and I find this to be neither. I am very shy and do this too and I don't intend people to think anything of it really. Although, I can see why it may drive you nuts but if it does you should get over it because shy people like us just can't help the way we are. And to "IAMEVEREADY'S" up above me, I think they are right.

I never would have thought it was cute, I did this same thing when I was young. Very low self-esteem. Do yourself and the other person a BIG favor.... find an opportunity to compliment them on something, maybe pretty eyes, or really muscular arms, whatever. If this is really a friend you would be doing him/her a tremendous service, and try to get them to chat about something they enjoy. It will pay huge dividends for many years. I will never forget a friend who always commented on my voice. It really doesn't have to be anything major.

I'm the same way but I don't wave at people but I do look down as soon as I make eye contact, it's a force of habit if you're shy. I try not to cause I know its noticeable but I can't help it. Try not to let it drive you nuts.

I would get frustrated beyond belief after a while -- but then again since they are so shy -- I probably wouldn't talk to them enough to say more then hello anyway lol

I'd find it cute for the first little while, and then it would just annoy me. If we're friends, they should be able to talk to me without looking away.

I have no problem with quiet persons.
I, sometimes, prefer them to the noisy and "popular" ones.
