With so many people quitting smoking and taking up chewing gum, I have had no choice but to notice that cracking gum seems to have become a sport. Is it just me, or didn't anyone else's mother teach them that cracking gum and chewing with your mouth open is rude? Is this supposed to be attractive?

I really could care less about cleaning up number 1 or 2 if its not my own bathroom. If I am over a friend's house, I usually let them know I made a mess when I exit the bathroom. In a public bathroom, like at the mall, there are people that are paid to do it so why should I?

There are other people who use public toilets and make a mess on the seat and the floor. Why do I have to clean up after them or be responsible to keep the toilet I am using clean after I use it.

Regarding my friends house. Unless he comes over and cleans my toilet, I'm not cleaning his. Even if it is my own mess and it includes the staining of that really soft carpet that people drape around the bottom of the toilet.

I feel, if you didn't want to clean it up, don't offer your bathroom for other people to use. Me? I don't want to clean it up so I make my family and friends at my house go somewhere else. Is that rude?

Looking at the answers to another question, I noticed that many young people wanted to have a say in what old people should wear.
What is wrong with letting people chose to wear whatever they want, as long as it isn't illegal?

Friends and I went out to dinner last Friday night. Semi casual place, pick your own table but food is served to your table. Later, a couple comes in with their toddler and infant. We thought it strange that of all the other 15 empty tables in the restaurant, they chose the one right next to us, barely a foot apart. The baby cries the entire dinner. We had to raise our voices just to hear ourselves. Parents never took the baby out of the restaurant. What could we have said? Our food was quickly served so all four of us couldn't pick up everything and go to another table. Was there really a way to avoid offending the parents? If we asked the waitress to ask the parents to sit somewhere else, they would have heard our request and get mad at us.

I went to a criminal justice forum in an auditorium a week ago. The forum consisted of the Chief of Police, several local Professors, the head of our local NAACP, the local prosecutor, the local judge and a local lawyer. The forum was very professional and pretty serious.

Two couples decided to bring thier babys!! BABYS? All they did the whole time was yell! I thought it was very rude to the speakers and to the guests. If you feel you need to attend a professional forum like thisor any event which should not be disturbed I think you should get a baby sitter. What do you think?

I share a flat with another student, a first year (I'm doing a second degree). She's a sweet kid but she never cleans the place. I've tried ignoring the mess and waiting for her to clean it, but she never does and I find myself cleaning it myself again. Our building has a cockroach problem, so we really can't leave unwashed dishes (and it's ugly: the place is open-plan and there's nowhere to hide the mess). But she leaves things for 2 or 3 days in the sink! And it's only me that ever washes the floors or vacuums the carpet.

Do I talk to her? How do I say it so I don't cause more tension than I'm avoiding? I still have to live with her for another 8 months. Or do I keep cleaning up myself, since it's me that's bothered by the mess? Or leave the dishes for her and set lots of cockroach traps? We've been in the place for 2 months now, and it's not driving me crazy but it is annoying.

Who favors that some resturants have child-free and family sections?

Im not talking about MC donalds or other "family" resturants, Im talking about resturants that you would not normally bring a child to?

I can't stand sitting down to an expensive meal only for it to be ruined by badly behaved children.

Okay so there is a great girl in my Biology class and she sits next to me. I love talking to her but the problem is I'm reluctant to engage in conversations because her breath is SO AWFUL! I can't afford to buy her mints every lesson. How can I tell her by not coming across rude.

My in-laws watched our cat for a week ... when we went to pick him up, I got so excited, and started blurting out all of his nicknames... well one of them is something that rhymes with one is his nicknames, and is an unkind word for people that share the same sexuality as George Michael.

I squealed it loud and clear and didn't even realize it until I saw the look of shock and disgust on my well-mannered, proper in-laws faces! My husband was a bit embarassed, but not quite as much as I am.

I told him I need a little more time before I can face them again, and he thinks I'm over-reacting.

They haven't said a word about it, but the look on their faces said it all to me!

I have always been an argumentative person. I have been working on being amiable towards people so that I can make more friends but I find that I can agree for about 5 minutes then I just burst out with my disagreements. For example, I attended a church breakfast and some of the men starting talking about how Walmart embodies true Christian values to which I responded "Walmart pays foreign workers .39 cents a day and discriminates against women"
To my way of reasoning, if I agree with what people are saying, that means I am endorsing their point of view and not being true to my value system.
How do other people manage to make it through conversations and get togethers without argueing with people?
Are you telling yourself it just isn't that important or that it is better to keep peace? How do you not express out loud that people are offending you?

On the train this morning a woman walked to the centre of the isle and stood with her back to the woman sitting down few rows up from me. The sitting lady was 'squirming' at this but said nothing. It got me thinking, would I be that unaware of people around me or, if I were sitting would I say something to the person standing with their back to me?

has asked a sensible qestion on here and is asking for advice or help, that at least one arseh*le will post a completely nasty answer? I'm sure i'll get a few back now i've posted this from exactly the kind of people i'm talking about, but there are some really messed up people out there and i was just wondering why the hell they feel compelled to be complete w*nkers to total strangers?? Is it because they don't have the guts to stand up to people in real life so it makes them feel better to belittle people from the safety of their computers??

I went to a live show with 2 guys in a company who is going to be our supplier. I am a concert organiser and I have met them 3-4 times. After the show, we went for a drink and I got bisous (?)- kisses on the cheeks from both of them. I One of the guy's kises seemed longer. And the next day I got a business email from this guy with his first name only. While in the concert, we sat very close because he is quite big. Am I just too sensitive or starting to like him?
