My in-laws watched our cat for a week ... when we went to pick him up, I got so excited, and started blurting out all of his nicknames... well one of them is something that rhymes with one is his nicknames, and is an unkind word for people that share the same sexuality as George Michael.

I squealed it loud and clear and didn't even realize it until I saw the look of shock and disgust on my well-mannered, proper in-laws faces! My husband was a bit embarassed, but not quite as much as I am.

I told him I need a little more time before I can face them again, and he thinks I'm over-reacting.

They haven't said a word about it, but the look on their faces said it all to me!

You call your cat Fudge Packer....... Hehehe!!!! Now that is rich.
Your husband should enforce corporal punishment on you and the poor sexually confused cat.
This question has really made my day. HAHAHAHA!!!

If they were that repulsed but didn't say anything, then I would let it go. They will probably forget all about it long before you get over it. I get the impression that they are very nice people and I am sure that they realize life is way too short to waste a lot of energy on this little faux paux.
I have cats too, but I don't think that I have ever been THAT excited to see them before. That says something about you.
Don't beat yourself up over every little thing. I am willing to bet that you have done a lot more good and loving things than bad, terrible things. Live and learn and embrace the positive, let go of the negative.
That's just my humble opinion.

I wouldn't worry about it!
If they haven't got even enough of a sense of humor to find your outpouring of nicknames for your cat amusing then that's sad for them!
It really isn't a big deal at all. I suppose you could tell them it was a slip of the tongue and apologise BUT I would tend to agree with your hubby... just forget it!
Unless they have been living in exile for the past 20 years then I would imagine that is not the first nor the last time they have heard the expression and it's not that bigger a deal.
You are all adults.!

I'd be embarrassed. But then I embarrass myself all the time. Your in-laws know you already, so it's unlikely to totally change their perspective on you. You could take a day or two before seeing them if you're really embarrassed, but then you'll be left feeling silly for longer. Probably all that's needed is to make a joke about it next time you see them.

Example: "It's good to see you. But I promise I won't start squealing 20 nicknames at you." (you don't need to mention the offensive one)

People and circumstances happen.I have been nice or bad to people and it is really a very grey game. Some people like jokes and some do not .Some people like laughing and others do not.So if you have your husband`s support just live life.If your hsband is offended then give me your email.
