Yeah-go back to Scotland occasionally and meet up with lots of old mates, acquaintances and the like.Don't like to see people, who I once had lots of time for,struggle-and some of them are not doing as well as others-Try to help-but sometimes people are beyond help(particularly if there is a history of long term drug abuse) and their pride won't let you in-it's upsetting if they don't open up to ya-but on the other hand-one of my best friends gave me one of the biggest lifts I'd had in my life-when he told me if I hadn't have come up one weekend and bumped into his ex wife(who pleaded with me to go and see him and have a 'chat' with him)-he'd have ended it all that night at 35 years of age.As it was -bundled him into a shower-gave him some clothes and personally took him to an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting.Five years on-he's still sober-in a half decent but physically demanding job-and on the best of terms with his ex missus and kids-Can't get the fucka off the phone for hours now-when he rings me at least twice a month-to laugh at the absurd 'situations' we used to find ourselves in-He's my mate and will always be there for me-likewise me for him!!Amazing what you can do if you've got faith in people.
